Parish observes day of prayer A good congregation was present at Wingham United Church on Sunday, March 3 in spite of the inclement weather conditions. The Rev. John Roberts was the guest speaker for the service, which was the 50th anniversary of his call to the ministry. His sermon was entitled "Called to Discipleship" and in his address he told of how an The Brownie and Sparks held their regular meeting at the East Wawanosh Public School on Thursday, Feb. 29. They enjoyed making 75 tray favours for St. Patrick's Day for the Wingham Hospital. These were donated by the Brownies and Sparks to the Hospital Auxiliary. Each Brownie picked a Spark to work with and each made five. Every girl was allowed to take one hoMe. Afterwards they went into the gymnasium and played Kings Court and had a sing song. The evening closed with "Taps". The Brownies, Sparks and the Girl Guides will have their cookie Pair earn medals Sunday, Feb. 18 Blyth Figure Skating Club competed at the annual Interclub North Figure Skating Competition at Stratford. PeeWees travel The Blyth PeeWee hockey teams will be traveling to Guelph this weekend to see the Junior A Storm in action. The 19 youths won the trip by collecting over 1,200 UPC symbols from Kraft products. The contest was sponsored by Scrimgeours Food Market. While at the game the members of the Guelph Storm, which includes former Brussels Bull Todd Norman of Gowanstown, will meet the team from Blyth. In addition each PeeWee will receive sou- venirs, including an autographed hockey stick and a hockey bag full of Kraft products. Gloria Dow, accompanied by Jessie McGee, sang His Eye is on the Sparrow and Lord of the Dance. Rev. Cathrinc Campbell was the guest speaker. She gave an interesting message on Haiti and the customs of the people there. The regular meeting of the Belgrave Community Club was held on Friday, March 1 with 21 members present and President Bob Grasby presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and adopted. Correspondence was read from the Community Centre Board inviting everyone to a soup and sandwich lunch on Saturday, March 30. They also received a note from the Belhaven Seniors of Belmore regarding the Belmore Maple Syrup Festival on April 11 and April 13 and from the Alzheimer's Society of Huron County. The treasurer's report was read and adopted. The March wedding anniversary of Mary and Jack Taylor was recognized. Plans were discussed for the visit of the Blyth Seniors on April 12. It was reported that a bus trip was planned for Friday, April 26 to Toronto to a concert featuring the music of Lawrence Welk. The meeting,adjourned to meet again on May 3 at 1:30 p.m. S. Galbraith earns bronze Muriel Taylor just returned from a 10 day holiday in Florida and enjoyed 80° weather. Shawn Galbraith, son of Scott and Linda Galbraith recently received a bronze medal obtaining first and second in a Tae Kwon Do tournament in Kitchener. In Toronto he got third prize for "Patterning and Sparing". Carleigh Galbraith, daughter of Scott and Linda, auditioned at the Stratford Festival for the saxophone part in the musical Music Man.
