Blyth council briefs Blyth suggests change With the transfer for the Blyth Union Cemetery almost now com- plete, Blyth council at its March 4 meeting made a motion to allow for more representation from affected municipalities. While Blyth, as landowner, is required under the Cemetery Act to have two members on the board, in the past there was only one repre- sentative from each of Hullett, Morris and East Wawanosh Twps. Reeve Bailey suggested that the other municipalities should be per- mitted to have two representatives if they chose. "They pay so they can decide how many they want to pay," he said. A motion was passed stating that there would be two members from Blyth to serve on the board, while the remaining municipalities could have one or two. Also, Clerk-Treasurer John Stew- art told council that a new cemetery bylaw needs to be passed. "The Cemetery Act was changed in 1992. There should be a new bylaw to correspond," he said. *** A cheque in the amount of $1,070 was received for the pur- chase of Lot 166, Plan 168. *** While the OPSEU strike does not have a severe impact on the munic- ipality, Stewart informed council of several issues arising from the Blyth People Euchre was played Monday, Feb. 26 in Blyth Memorial Hall.
