Correction
The second place winners in the

It should have read Garry and
Irene.
We regret any confusion this may
have caused.
Walton PS news
The kindergarten class made
pancakes on Tuesday, Feb. 20.
They also worked on their 'Round
Books' (things that are round).
They were quite excited this
week to receive letters from their
pen pals from Turnberry School.
The children sent pictures of
themselves and beside each picture
was their favourite colour and
shape. Now the Walton students
can put faces to the names of their
pals.
It was anything but quiet when
entering the Grade 1 room Friday
afternoon. It seems the students are
learning about sound and there was
a lot of sound coming from the
various noise makers. There was
the keyboard, a plucking board (a
very interesting item indeed. It was
a board with a string going down
the length of it and it had a bucket
at the end of the strong. Weight
was added to the bucket to see if
the tone changed on the string.) At
one station they had to match the
canister by sound. There was a
sound kit borrowed from the board
office that contained all kinds of
thumping tubes, hoses, copper pipe.
Boy, school is sure a lot more fun
now than when I went.
Grade 2/3 finished up their
friendship day by celebrating with
games and snacks. Ricky Pethick
was the lucky guy who got to take
home Pumpkin the rabbit.
The Grade 3s had a visitor this
past week. Kathy McNichol came
and did some cartooning with the
kids. She showed them the basic
shape of heads and taught them to
draw seven or eight different
characters.
The Grade fours have been busy
reading mysteries and soon will be
solving and writing some. Mrs.
Strangway has been their substitute
teacher all week and she was
wondering if there was anyone out
in the community who just
happened to have a mystery that
they needed solved.
