Council briefs

Council advised Stewart to seek
further information regarding the
participation by village children in
Wingham recreation programs.
Notification was received con-
cerning the municipality reimburs-
ing Wingham 39 per cent of the
total registration fee for Blyth chil-
dren enrolled through the Wingham
Recreation Department.
Stewart was asked to obtain a list
of children involved and the activi-
ties in which they participate.

Flu short-lived

Though for most, the flu-bug's
bite is a brief, though unpleasant
disruption, it can carry greater haz-
ards for a certain part of the popu-
lation. "Vulnerable people, such as
the very young and the elderly are
at greater risk. There is the worry
with the flue that it can go towards
pneumonia. There have definitely
been deaths as a result of the flu."
Leanne Swanson read a story
about Sparks and then made
pictures relating to the story. Soda
Pop Fizz was played and enjoyed
by everyone followed by a snack.
The meeting was closed with the
girls doing the "Run Along Home"
game.

wins in euchre
Euchre was played on Monday,
Feb. 19 at Memorial Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Effie
McCall; high man, Roy Kreuter;
ladies' lone hands, Vera Badley;
men's lone hands, Ruth Jardin;
ladies' low, Ruth Shiell; men's low,
Millar Richmond.
Euchre will be played again next
week at 8 p.m. Everyone is
