THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 1996 Brussels Livestock report Trading steady across the board, fed cattle off $1 Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Feb. 23 were: fed cattle, 832; cows, 303; veal calves, 236; sheep and goats, 27; stockers, 1,189; and pigs, 92. The market at Brussels Livestock saw fed steers and heifers selling Si lower. The cows sold on a steady trade. On Thursday all weights of veal sold steady. On Friday the stockers traded on an active steady market. There were 565 steers on offer selling from $77 to $82 to the high of $93.75. Fifteen steers consigned by Darren Johnston, Blucvale, averaging 1,382 lbs. sold for an average of $80.60 with a Charolais weighing 1,390 sold to Norwich Packers for $93.75. Thirty-three steers consigned by Jack Culbert, Dungannon, averaging 1,343 lbs. sold for an average of $83.97 with sales to $92. Fourteen steers consigned- by Tom Dickson, Stratford, averaging 1,424 lbs. sold for an average of $80.02 with sales to $90. Soybean premium is down by 19 per cent, corn premium is down by 15 per cent, coloured bean premium is down by 17 per cent, canola premium is down by 13 per cent, white bean premium is down by 18 per cent. The floating price paid to farmers with claims is no longer capped at the market revenue support level. This means the price paid for crop insurance claims will be allowed to rise to the true floating price. The reseeding benefit has been increased for white beans, canola, red spring wheat and sunflowers. Shelter plans Women's Day celebration With International Women's Day less than two weeks away, the Women's Shelter and Counselling Services of Huron County is plan- ning a celebration for the family. Performing Friday, March 8, 7:30 p.m., at The Livery, South Street, Goderich, are The Durst Family, Kim Souch and The Bay Side Blues, Heavy Foot and The Bud Mabon Band Supported by local musicians, the evening of entertainment will raise funds for the shelter. The price, $7.50 each or $25 per family, includes appetizers and cof- fee or tea. There will be dancing and a cash bar.
