The' Brussels Midgets were
eliminated from WOAA playoff
competition last Thursday, having
suffered a 4-1 loss to Howick.
Jeff Lewington scored for
Brussels, assisted by Trevor
Huffman.
Coach Gary Dauphin said the
team put out a good effort, but were
just met by a very strong opponent.
Atom Reps
advance
The Brussels Atom Rep team
eliminated Drayton from WOAA
competition this week, handing
them a 4-2 defeat.
Kyle Stephenson and Nolan
Krotz each contributed a pair of
goals to the victory, with assists
going to Krotz (two), Lee Dilworth
(two), Stephenson, Scott McDonald
and Darryl Houston.
Coach Alan Krotz said that,
having been tied with five minutes
left in the final period, the game
was much closer than the score
indicated.
The team's next opponent will be
Elma-Logan. The two teams will
take to the Brussels ice this
Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Oldstars win

After the round robin games were
over the standings saw the Blyth
Oldstars and Wingham Rockers in
the A final. The Oldstars outscored
the Rockers 8 - 3.
In the B final, Hensall Drift-
woods sent • the Kincardine
Bullshooters to the showers talking
to themselves, Hensall 10,
Kincardine 0.
The Bayfield Oldtimers and
Teeswater Model T's battled for the
C division with Bayfield finding
the net seven times to Teeswater's
four.
Louisville hockey sticks provided
sticks and caps for the game
winning goal in each final.
Bayfield's Lome Taylor, Hensall's
Gord Glenn and Blyth's Steve
Bromley were the winners of these
awards. Renfrew Hockey Tape
Award went to the Bayfield
Oldtimers.

was the setting for the lovely winter
wedding of Heather McIntosh and
Rod Jones, both of Belgrave.
The bride, daughter of John and
Marie McIntosh of Brussels, and
groom, son of Ron and Marilyn
Jones of Wingham, were united in
marriage on Jan. 6, 1996, by Rev.
Mary Jane Hobden.
Bearing witness for the bride was
Deb Schouten of Thorndale, Ont.
Bridesmaids were Janet Koehler
of Brussels and Jennifer Lamondin
of Monkton while Tamara Koehler
was the flowergirl.

ROSS BRIGHTON
Ross Brighton of Brussels passed
away on Saturday, Feb. 10, 1996 at
Seaforth Community Hospital. He
was 74.
Left to mourn his passing is his
wife the former Erma Fink. Mr.
Brighton was the loved father of
Lloyd and Joan Brighton of Wing-
ham, Ron and Marg Brighton of
Arris, Keith and Ruth Brighton of
Kitchener. He was the dear grand-
father of six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son in
infancy, Roy, a granddaughter,
Cathy Brighton in 1989, one broth-
er Delton Brighton, two sisters
Irene Petzold and Effie Becker.
Mr. Brighton rested at Betts
Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Mon-
day. Rev. Randy Banks officiated
at the funerals service held at 2
p.m. Tuesday.
Interment will be held in the
spring at Brussels Cemetery.
In remembrance donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society would be
appreciated.
Jeff Cameron of Wingham was
the best man with Paul McIntosh of
Wroxeter, Russ Lamondin of
Monkton and Rob Jones of Wing-
ham acting as ushers.
The ceremony was accented by
the songs Keeper of the Stars and
The Greatest Gilt, sung by John
and Chris McIntosh.
Following a reception at Brus-
sels, Morris, Grey Community
Centre, the bridal couple travelled
to Ranton Place in Palmerston and
stayed at the Festival Inn in Strat-
ford.
The newlyweds now reside in
Lucknow.

by Mrs- Siertsema and the
treasurer's report was by Mrs.
Cloakey. Twenty-eight sick and
shut-in visits were recorded.
The World Day of Prayer will be
in the Presbyterian Church on
Friday, March 1.
Ora Bruce read a poem "Begin
Today". Freda Scott read
"Valentine Wishes". Alice Nichol-
son read "The House by the Side of
the Road." Come Let Us Sing of a
Wonderful Love was read in unison.
Mrs. Siertsema read "Valentines
are a chain of Love."
The next meeting will be March
4. Mrs. Nicholson closed the
meeting with a poem and the
hostess served lunch.
