Putting the fun in fundraiser
Not only was the volleyball match up between the Wingham OPP and the F.E. Madill
Secondary School Senior Girls on Feb. 8, a joint fundraising event, but it brought waves of
laughter from the participants and packed gymnasium. The competitors took turns spraying
each other with silly string and covering the ball with shaving cream while the police officers
took advantage of leg shackles and hand cuffs to slow their opponents down. Making the
shot for F.E Madill Senior Girls is Angela Huber, Number 24, while OPP officers Robin
Milroy, left, and Audrey Bos leap to block.

Tykes tie 1-1
The Blyth Tykes battled to a 5-5
tie with Clinton I on Saturday.
Coach Rick Elliott said, "The

was exceptional, and they should
be commended for their effort
against the strong Clinton squad."
The Blyth PeeWee Reps
advanced to the next round of the
OMHA playoffs by eliminating
Zurich three games to one.
After Blyth won the first two
games quite easily, Zurich came
back to Blyth last Wednesday night
a different team. Coupled with
several Blyth players out of the
lineup due to illness, and a red-hot
Zurich goaltender, the visitors went
home with a 5-2 victory.
Blyth fell behind early and could
not recover. Jeremy Van
Amcrsfoort and Matt Anderson
scored in the third period, but that's
where the comeback ended.
Assists went to Dave Ansley,
Shawn Bromley and Joel Arthur.
Blyth travelled to Zurich Friday
night for game four of the best of
five series.
Again Blyth battled a hot Zurich
goaltender and a hard-working
Zurich team.
Trailing 4-1 late in the second
period, Blyth scored a short-handed
goal which seemed to lift the team.
The boys scored again with 20
seconds left in the second period to
close the gap to 4-3.
Blyth came out skating in the
third period, to score three
unanswered goals and win 6-4.
Blyth captain Drew Corneil
scored his 50th goal of the year and
added three assists to lead. the
offence. Other Blyth goals were
scored by Dave Ansley with two,
Matt Anderson, two and Corneil,
who also added a seem-id. Assists
went to Bryce Toll Anderson,
Ansley, Joel Arthur, two and Van

provided strong goaltending.
Blyth now meets long time rival
Stephen Twp. in a best of five
series starting Wednesday night in
Blyth at 7 p.m.
