Women's Shelter information hits the road The Women's Shelter and. Counselling Services of Huron has an exciting project in the works for the month of March. "Information to You", a travelling motor home information centre, will soon be seen in towns and villages near you. This project has been supported with a grant from the Tampax Trust Fund at The Canadian Women's Foundation. The purpose of these grants throughout Canada is for violence education and prevention for women and teens. The motor home will be filled with valuable information concerning violence against women and other issues that women face. This venture came to be as a result of discussions with various community members who noted that knowledge and access to services is limited in Huron County because of the rurality of the area. The motor home will be travelling to most of the small towns and villages in Huron County hoping to reach as many people as possible. Plans are to locate in a visible spot and have people drop in for a refreshment and if they want, to fill out a small questionnaire for the chance to tell their needs and what they feel are important issues facing women, in particular issues related to violence. A program to any Women's or Parent and Tot groups which many include a guest speaker and childcare if needed, is also being offered. A wall mural, linking the women of Huron County is being created and each person will be invited to make a piece of this mural. If you or your group would be Young people under 21 years of age represent 20 per cent of the road users killed on Ontario roads, 13 per cent of drivers injured, 14.5 per cent of drivers killed, 15 per cent of pedestrians killed.
