On Wednesday, they were defeated by Wingham in a high- scoring 13-9 game. Jeremy Robin- son scored seven of Belgrave's goals, with Scott Phillips adding a pair. On Saturday, the team made up for this loss with a 9-3 triumph Over Lucknow. Robinson again led the offense, with eight goals. Trevor McArter added another. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 1996 Tykes top Wingham The Brussels Tykes played an excellent game against Wingham recently, considering how cold the temperature was on the ice surface, minus 20 at least. Scoring for Brussels was Chris Corbett, Adam Corbett, and Justin Thompson. Assisting for the Brussels team was Christopher Jutzi, and Mitch Blake. In net for Brussels was Kyle Gibson, who made some game saving stops just like a pro. The Brussels Atom Rep team took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-five WOAA series against Drayton with a 6-2 victory on Saturday. Kyle Stephenson led the attack with two goals and two assists. Also having a strong game in the 5-4 victory was Chas Chapman, Cory Chapman, Nathon Prior, and Mathew White who was injured with a stick across the right arm, but continued to play. Half way through the game, however, he had to leave. Mathew showed great determination in playing as long as he could. The next game is in Bayficld on Saturday, Fcb. 10 at 12:45. Additional goals were scored by Darrell McClure (two) and Lee Dilworth (two). Further assists were credited to Nolan Krotz (two) and Mark Hunter. Coach Alan Krotz credited his team for their solid effort. Brussels Atoms 2 up Junior's best The Brussels Bulls hosted the annual Junior C banquet at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre on Saturday evening. Though there were no honours awarded to the host team, those taking home trophies were, back row, from left: most sportsmanlike, Steve Beauregard of the Kincardine Bulldogs; top rookie, Jeremy Beatie, Kincardine Bulldogs; top socrer Jeff Rahn, Mt. Grey Twp. plans anniversary Wescast PeeWees record 13-6-0 The Wingham Wescast PeeWee Bs improved their league record to a 13-6-0 with a pair of lopsided victories over weaker Hanover and Mildmay teams. The PeeWee Bs travelled to Mildmay Jan. 23 and although Wingham expected tough competi- tion they skated away with a 7-1 decision. Brett Coulthard collected the hattrick, scoring his first in the opening period, unassisted. His second came in the second period on a nice pass from Garrett Skinn. A good crowd showed up at Cranbrook Community Hall, Jan. 31, to make plans for the upcoming Grey Township 140th anniversary. "At this point, the date has been set, a chair chosen and the commit- tees tentatively selected," says Brad Knight, who is helping organize the celebration. Chair of the organization is Bob Cunningham. At the next meeting, Feb. 13 at Ethel Hall, the committees will be confirmed and they will begin to Snowmobilers ditch machine Two people escaped serious injury after being involved in a snowmobile accident in Morris Twp. this past weekend. According to a report from the Wingham OPP, the accident occurred at 12:10 a.m., on Lot 20, Conc. 9. A 1991 Arctic Cat snow- mobile, driven by Cara Salo, 27 of Hamilton, was crossing a field when it hit the ditch. Salo and her passenger, Laurie Hayes, 28 of Kenilworth were thrown from the machine. The two were taken to Wingham Hospital by ambulance where they were treated for minor injuries. The snowmobile was demol- ished. Then Tom Mullin scored two in a row, one from Justin Campbell. Mildmay finally beat James Needham in the second period after he made a couple of point blank saves. Aaron Himmelman and Coulthard scored again before Craig Marks put the game away in the third period. The PeeWee Bs took on Hanover at the Wingham arena on Jan. 21, and in the opening 15 minutes of the game averaged a goal every two minutes to open up an 8-0 advant- age. decide what will be on the program for the June 28-30 event, says Knight. Tim Robinson scored with help from Campbell and then Marks got into the act from Campbell. Adam McQuiggin scored a nice goal from his knees from Campbell. After four straight assists, Campbell finally scored from Himmelman. Next it was Coulthard from Pete Dixon and then Jim McCracken and Kyle Anderson unassisted. Wingham only scored three times in the third period, first from Coulthard with help from McQuiggin and Anderson, then McQuiggin again from Anderson and Coulthard. Himmelman scored his second of the night from Campbell and Marks and then Himmelman tallied again from Campbell. Kate Lane and Needham shared the shutout with Needham making some big saves in the third.
