Blyth man receives tongue-lashing from judge
After being sentenced to a nine
month jail term for drunk driving, a
Blyth man received harsh admon-
ishment from presiding Judge
Garry Hunter in Wingham's provin-
cial court Jan. 31.
Roland McCulloch pled guilty to
over 80 and to a second offense of
driving while disqualified. The
charges were laid Sept. 30 after
McCulloch had accidentally backed
over his commonlaw spouse, then
drove away. When he returned to
his residence later, the officer at the
scene believed him to be intoxicat-
ed and arrested him.
Breathalizer readings were 190
(mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood)
and 200. The officer then did a
check on McCulloch and discov-
ered that he had been given a three
year driving prohibition in 1993.
McCulloch's common-law part-
ner was not seriously injured. Duty
Counsel John Schenk said on the
defendant's behalf that there "were
no hard feelings between the two as
a result of this incident", adding
that they planned to be married this
summer.
Also, Schenk noted that the
charges from 1993 had arisen "dur-

the message. You don't drink and

about you, I'm worried about the
others," Hunter said.
These acts not only affect those

of a divorce.
Judge Hunter sentenced him to
