THE Bus delivers educational fun
Hitting the road for education
Residents of smaller communities throughout Huron County will have the opportunity to
borrow educational toys, videos and child rearing information from THE Bus as it makes its
tour of the region. Andrea Muir is the mobile resource librarian.
THE bus has arrived.
The Toys for Homes Everywhere
(THE) bus will be visiting Brussels
every second Tuesday to provide
local children with the opportunity
to view videos, listen to audio tapes
and make use of the wide variety of
toys, books, theme equipment and
kits on the mobile resource library.
Offering educational toys which
are both safe and fun, THE Bus
also has resource information on
child care and related topics.
The material is borrowed on a
two week basis, with the purchase
of a $15 yearly membership.
Toys, which range from infant
appropriate to school-aged children
with some for special needs young-
sters, may be borrowed up to five at
a time.
The program, a partnership in
management between Huron Coun-
ty Community Child Abuse Co-
ordinating Committee, Women
Today of Huron, Huron County
Health Unit, Children's Aid Society
of Huron County and Huron Home
Childcare and Family Resource
Centre and financed by Community
Action Program for Children,
Health and Welfare Canada, is a
family resource centre on wheels.
THE Bus will be at the Brussels
Library from 3 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.,
every second Tuesday beginning on
Jan. 30; at Duff s United Church,
Walton, every second Monday,
starting Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. until
11:30 a.m. and at the Dungannon
Seniors' Centre, every second
Thursday from Jan. 25, from 11:30
a.m. until noon.
The stop in Walton is part of a
drop-in program operating from the
basement of the church.
Loaded with fun and facts
THE Bus will offer members toys, books, theme
equipment and kits for every age group, from infant to
toddler and school-aged, as well as providing useful tips
for parents. Andrea Muir, mobile resource librarian will be
on hand to assist visitors.
