It was suggested by Dorothy Cummings of the Fair board, that the fall fair be held on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21 instead of the usual weekdays. The Recreation Board will for- ward two options to the Fair board regarding a weekend fair. There will be a rental fee of $360 plus taxes.for the event or no fee, but Clarification To clarify a story in the Jan. 17 issue of The Citizen, the board referred to in Brussels area fears health unit closure, was the volun- teer board of the Brussels Medi- cal/Dental Clinic, which oversees the rental of the building. Nine snowmobilers took off from Moms get time out Need to get away from your house, talk to other mothers of young children who are going through similar things? Come to "Time Out For Moms" at the Brussels Health Unit office the second Thursday of every month from 10:30 - 12 noon. This group was organized by local mothers of young children (newborn to five years) and Connie Kuc, public health nurse with the Huron County Health Unit. It is ongoing with the mothers who attend the group deciding which topics they want discussed. Some of the topics have been: discipline, safety, feeding issues, toy lending libraries, stress management and parent support. Topics for this year are: caring for the sick child, criticism by other people, going back to work and isolation. Kuc says mothers who have attended, "Time Out For Moms" are pleased that such groups exist in their community." Some comments they hive made are: how helpful it is to talk to other mothers with children the same age, how much they need to get out of the house, share ideas and to make new friends. For more information call Kuc at the Health Unit at 887-9331. Brussels Jan. 15, for a five day journey which would take them to Port Sydney, approximately 18 km. north of Bracebridge, then home again, Having reached Baysville by the second day, the group decided to stop because of freezing rain, says trekker, Ann McKercher of RR2, Bluevale. Soon reports of impending mild weather began to arrive and with several lakes to cross on the trip home, the snowmobilers turned south again on the third day. By Jan. 18, back in Wasaga Beach, a lot of open water started to appear and one machine was dis- abled with a blown piston, says McKercher. A rescue call went in to a friend with a 12-passenger van and the riders were returned to Brussels. Six men hooked up trailers and headed back to Wasaga Beach Fri- day, to retrieve the abandoned machines along with the one being repaired by a local dealer. While there, a storm blew through the southern Georgian Bay area, delaying the men's return until Saturday, she says. What started out as a group of Deal #1 Get your STEELERS of a Deal.
