The Bulldogs were in town for an afternoon game, Sunday, and went home with a 10-2 victory. The Brussels Bantams split their last two games and hold a five win - 10 loss record with two games remaining in their schedule. Wednesday the Bantams dropped a 4-1 home ice decision to Seaforth. Trevor Wilson and Kevin Mutter combined to set up Cory Several Blyth Power Skaters passed tests in December. They are: Chris Gibson, Participation; Adam Jenkins, Level 1, Bronze; Joel Scott, Level Bronze; Robert Goodall, Level I, Kincardine's Randy Dowler led their scoring with a hattrick, while Mike Wappett notched two. Scor- ing singles for the effort were Steve Beauregard, Kyle Lacasse, Mike Colling, Dave Keil and Zak Smith. Brian McNichol and Ryan Bragg for the only Brussels goal late in the first period. The next game saw the Bantams arrive home from Goderich with a 6-1 decision. Sam Zahnd, Chad Fischer and Bragg each scored twice while Jeremy Clark added four assists. Wright were the point-getters for the Bulls. The Brussels club has no home games this week, but travel to Wingham for a match-up on Sun- day afternoon. The Bantams are at home to Mitchell tonight and then will participate in the Howick Bantam Tournament to be held on Sunday. Blyth Tykes lose The Blyth Tykes came up on the short end of two games last week. On Monday, they lost 7-3 to Zurich. Coach Rick Elliott credited Jenna Rinn, who scored two goals, Brittany Peters, Kendall Whitfield and Heather Schmidt for their strong efforts. On Saturday, they faced the strong Goderich I team and were defeated 10-0. Coach Elliott said his team put out a commendable effort, but were facing a team that was just too strong. He complimented Jeff Elliott and Blake Hessclwood, who played net in the two games and faced a good deal of shots. Atoms win 6-1 THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 1996 PAGE 11. Keeping pace A member of the Brussels Novice team is shadowed by a visiting Blyth player in the contest on Friday evening. The Brussels team got its first victory of the season, defeating Blyth by just two points. Power skaters pass test Bantams' Clark earns 4 pts. Novices take victory The January meeting of Londesboro W.I. was held on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at the home of Ella Flood in Clinton. Lois welcomed everyone and opened with the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Roll call was answered with a resolution. The minutes of the December meeting were read. Reta gave the financial report. It was adopted as read. Correspondence from Leita and Glen Wiley was read. There were "Thank Yous" from Huron County Christmas Bureau, Children's Aid and letter from Marg Harris. The February meeting will be held at the church on Feb. 14 at 2 p.m. Each one is to bring a loaf of bread in sandwiches for this meeting. Lois gave a reading on resolutions. Ella Flood had a reading on old friends, and friendship gardens. Lois closed with a poem. Reta Kelland conducted a chinese auction. A delicious lunch was served by Liz Lawson, Hazel Reid and Margaret Taylor. Brussels Atoms came away with a tie after a nailbiter against Stephen Twp. last week. Scoring the lone Brussels goal in this 1-1 contest was Sean Hoegy. Earning assists were Jeff Linton and Brandon Dixon. On Jan. 13 Brussels hosted St. Marys then sent them home with a 6-1 loss. Tyler Campbell and Matt Clark- son led the Brussels effort with two each, while Daniel Cameron and Joel Hemingway each got one. Assists were creditted to Clark- son, two, Campbell, Cameron, Hemingway, Brittany Kellington and Dixon. The Brussels Novices won their first game of the season on Friday evening, defeating Blyth 3-1. Brussels goals were scored by Brent Wheeler, Rachel Elliott and Philip Wedow. Assists were given to Brandon Blake (two), Johnathan Engel, Nick Campbell and Scott Armstrong. Trainer Murray Armstrong said it was a good team effort — probably their best of the season. He commended goalie Patrick Rushton, who kept them in the early part of the game. \II If Frozen concentrated selected varieties 12.5 oz. tin Scoring the lone goal for Blyth was Tyler Kernighan, with the assist going to Justin Peters. Blyth came to this game trying to put up momentum after big losses to Clinton and Bayfield. On Dec. 30, the team travelled to Clinton and came up on the short end of a 6-0 loss. They had hosted Bayfield on Dec. 21 and lost by a score of 13-2. Peters came up with both Blyth goals, while Cody Anderson and Kernighan earned the assists. Carrie Salverda ushers amisi*„. The sermon topic was "What keeps us going when we feel like quitting." Holy Communion was held. Choir practice is 10:15 a.m. next Sunday. Huronview Fellowship is on Thursday, Jan. 18,7 - 7:45 p.m. A birthday party for Margaret Good's 80th birthday was held at Londesboro Church on Sunday, Jan. 14 from 2 - 4 p.m.
