On Wednesday, they played host
to Bayfield and lost 1-0. Bayfield
scored the lone goal of the game
late in the first period.
Coach Tom Jarrett said both
teams played well, with the goalies
putting in exceptional efforts. He
said his team backchecked well,
and had numerous chances, but
failed to put the puck in the net.
On Saturday, they again played
host, this time to the Seaforth II
squad. After Neil Salverda put
Blyth into the lead, assisted by
Bradley Schmidt, Seaforth tied it
up with just one second left in the
period.
There was no further scoring
until 2:10 in the third, when
Seaforth took the lead. With 1:15—

beneficial to them on the score
sheet.
The team returns to the Brussels

match against Blyth.
left, Blyth pulled their goalie for
the extra attacker. It proved useful,
with Cole Stewart scoring at the
0:48 mark. Micah Loder assisted on
that goal.
Victory, however, was not to be
for the Blyth team. Seaforth tallied
another, with only 18 seconds
remaining and held on for a 3-2
victory.
Coach Jarrett said his team failed
to pass as they could, and it hurt
their game.
The Atoms take to the Blyth ice
again this Wednesday at 6 p.m.
against Mitchell II.
The Blyth Bantams had a packed
five game schedule last week, with

time, with four goals and two

For those exceptionally talented
hockey players in Huron and Perth
Counties, there may soon be a bet-
ter opportunity for them to hone
their skills.
Hockey advocates have begun
developing a Triple A level for
advanced players in the Lucknow
to Embro, Goderich to Tavistock
area, which encompasses 41 com-
munities.
A league was needed because
exceptional players needed some-
where to step up to from the aver-
age player, said Zone Co-ordinator
Charlie Akey, a Goderich Signal-
Star interview.

assists were had by Haggitt (three),
Courtney (three), Black (two) and
goaltender Scott Bromley.
Trainer Gord Haggitt said both
the games were a good team effort,
with everyone playing well.
These two solid wins carried the
team into the Chesley tournament,
held on the weekend. In their first
game they faced a strong team from
Mt. Brydges, and suffered a close
2-0 loss. The boys responded in
their second game, with a 5-1
victory over Beverly.
Goals were scored by Cowan
(two), Courtney, Haggitt and Drew
Corncil, a PeeWee call-up, who
also added an assist. Further assists
were awarded to Haggitt (two),

ability, says Akey.
With the executive formed, the
group is waiting approval from the
Ontario Minor Hockey Association
to declare the league active.
Once approved, the league would
determine which teams they will
play against, preferable, London
and Kitchener-Waterloo, he says.

Dunbar.
In their third game, however,
another victory was not to be. In
this game, they were defeated 3-0
by the strong host squad from
Chesley.
The team did not return to Blyth
empty-handed, though. Having had
only six penalties in the tourna-
ment, they were awarded with a
trophy as the most sportsmanlike
team in the tournament.
Coach Don Dunbar said, "This
team could not have played any
better. They were merely faced
with some very stiff competition."
Trainer Haggitt complimented
goalie Scott Bromley for his solid
and consistent play over the
weekend.
