Morris sends fiery message to Brussels
In clearly stating its position,
Morris Twp. council agreed to send
a letter to the Village of Brussels,
indicating its stand on Wingham
and Blyth Fire Departments being
called in to assist Brussels.
At the Dec. 5 meeting, council
indicated that if Brussels Fire
Department does not call in Wing-
ham and Blyth Fire Departments on
receipt of a fire call, as per the
agreement with the village, Morris
Twp. would not pay Brussels for
the call.
In other fire matters, all residents
of the township will be mailed let-
ters, fire stickers and maps, outlin-
ing the department which will
respond in case of a fire. The letters
will be mailed in January.
However, Morris Twp. will pay
Brussels $1,350 for fire calls, not
$900 as indicated on the November
billing, because of a Mutual Aid
call.
Committee
to look
into loan
Continued from page 14 -
back is the seventh day after the
match closes, he said. At.that point
OPA would repay the loan if the
local committee hadn't.
The county had earlier approved
the $5,000 for 1996 but the Admin-
istration, Finance, and Personnel
Committee will look into the
remainder of the loan before the
OPA convention, Warden Bill Clif-
ford said.
In matters dealing with Wingham
Golf and Curling Club, council
approved the lottery license for a
calendar draw, subject to a letter of
credit for the value of the prizes
and a letter from the bank setting
out the bank account number.
Responding to a request from the
club for a light standard at the cor-
ner of Hwy 4 and Conc. 1-2, coun-
cil will send a letter saving the club
is responsible for all costs to install
and maintain the light, as are other
ratepayers in hamlets with street
lights.
After a discussion concerning
payment to Drainage Superinten-
dent Gary Nichol for the use of his
ATV and snowmobile during drain
inspections, council agreed to pay
Nichol machinery rental.
Contingents representing the Bel-
grave Well System and McCrae
Street Water System attended the
meeting to discuss costs and the
possibility of the township assum-
ing operation of the whole system.
John Campbell, McCrae Street
Water System representative, said
he would discuss the idea of town-
ship operation with the users and
report back to council.
Hullett Twp. was given permis-
sion to install the Morris Twp. fre-
quency in its radio.
Council agreed to remain with
Carter Disposal of Wingham for
cardboard recycling, at a cost of
$12 per lift for the first bin and $10
per lift for the second.
