Belgrave residents host holiday guests The Taylor families enjoyed Christmas dinner at the Belgrave Community Centre on Christmas Day. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Dusky, Trevor and Sara; Mrs. Leanne Hoffner of New Hamburg; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor, Kevin Deb and Angela of Ripley; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Taylor and Emily of Mitchell; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Keller and Heather of RR 1, Belgrave; Laurie Keller of Walton, Ron of St. John's, Newfoundland and Trudy Taylor of London. Louise and Gordon Bosman celebrated Christmas with their grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. Neil Elliott of Mount Brydges. Murray and Marjorie Irwin, Michael, Richard and Derick, Jean Swanson, Eric Dowson, Ashley Irwin, Kevin Irwin spent New Year's Day with Betty Irwin. They also celebrated Marjorie and Betty Irwin's birthdays. A large crowd enjoyed New Year's Eve at the Women's Institute Hall. The first part of the evening was spent playing euchre. There were 13 tables in play. New Year's Day visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Edgar, RR 4, Wingham; Mrs. Winnifred Johnston, Braemar Retirement Home, Wingham; and Irlma Edgar, Wingham. There were 10 tables of euchre in Tykes play to 15-7 loss The Belgrave Tykes engaged in a high-scoring contest against Lucknow on Saturday, and came on the low side of the 15-7 score. Belgrave scorers were led by Jeremy kobinson, who tallied five goals. Additional scores were had by Kevin Freiburger and Brandon Kellington. Winners were high lady, Janet Mathers; second high lady, Betty Archambault; lone hands, Jane Grasby; low lady, Edith Vincent; high man, Ross Higgins; second high man, George Michie; lone hands, Laura Johnston, playing as a man; low man, Leonard Archambault. Dancing followed, then a delicious pot luck meal was cnjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Lamont of London spent time visiting at Christmas with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim Lamont and all enjoyed Christmas dinner on Christmas Day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cottrill and family. Mrs. Donald Stonehouse and son Richard of Guelph called on their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stonehouse over the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Garner Nicholson spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Rob Nicholson of Listowel. They also attended a family Christmas at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wide, Kimberly, Jennifer and Trevor of Hamilton. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ron Nicholson of Barrie, Dr. Ray and Mrs. Nicholson, Victoria and Alexandra of Elmira and Mr. and Mrs. Rob Nicholson of Listowel. Freda Scott accompanied by Garry, Dianne, Bryana and Cody McWhirter of Lucan spent Christmas holidays in Orlando, Florida visiting Disneyland and enjoyed a boat cruise to the Bahamas for New Year's. lunch and a birthday cake. On his birthday on Jan. 2 he received phone calls from Mesa, Arizona, Sault Ste Marie, Whitevale, and Petrolia. He also received many birthday cards and best wishes from relatives and friends. The next euchre is Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Atoms lose heartbreaker The Belgrave Atoms lost a heartbreaking 2-1 game to the strong Stephen Twp. team on Friday evening. The lone Belgravc goal was scored by Chad Cook, in the second period, assisted by Scott Folkard. The boys take to the Belgrave ice again this Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Elma-Logan. Darryl Jardin enjoyed spending time with parents Harold and Nancy Jardin and brother Mike as well as visiting with friends from Sanford Fleming College in Lindsay during his three-week Christmas break. Mrs. Elizabeth Procter visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry and Darryl of Londes- boro. All attended the Christmas Eve Service at Trinity Anglican Church in Blyth. Mrs. Procter was a guest at their home over Christmas. Visiting at the same home on Christmas Day were Karen and Kevin Procter, RR 5, Brussels. On Dec. 27 a large gathering from Oakville, Londesboro, London, RR 1, Tavistock, Belgrave and RR 5, Brussels visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zettler and girls RR 4, Walkerton. All had a lovely Christmas dinner and the rest of the day was enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry visited with her mother on Dec. 28. On Dec. 29 Mrs. Howard Zettler, Amanda, Alicia and Sherry visited with her mother and grandmother. Mr. Mark Speakman and friend Tianne of Acton visited with Mrs. Elizabeth Procter on Dec. 30. They also visited the same day at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Procter, RR 5, Brussels. Steve Coultes and Nicole MacGuile of Melbourne, Australia and Tim Coultes of Chatham were home for the Christmas holidays to visit with parents Glen and Dorothy Coultes as well as with other relatives and friends. Visiting at the home of Florence McArter on Wednesday, Jan. 3 were Ray Green of Kincardine, his daughter Karen and granddaughter Leah from Vancouver, Lorna Cook, Charlie Cook and Ruth King, Kim McArter and family, Jim and Elsie Walsh, Wes and Annie Cook, Karen Cook, Ellen and Sara. The Anderson families held their annual Christmas celebration on Saturday; Dec. 30 in the Belgrave Women's Institute Hall. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ian Anderson and Nolan, all of London; Mr and Mrs. Chris, Anderson, Valerie and Brooke of Arva; Mr. and Mrs. Les Shaw, Belgrave; Mr. and Mrs. Geoff Viglianti, Stephanie and Michelle of London; Mr. and Mrs. Brian Shaw, Mark and Graeme of Kintore; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gethke, Shawn and Bradley of Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson, Belgrave; Mrs. Rick Ball, Matthew and Alicia, Hanover; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson, Daniel and Sarah, Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Rob Roy, Emily and Christina, Peterborough; and Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cousins and Brandon of Guelph. Only one family member, Rick Ball was unable to be present because of work. A delicious turkey dinner was enjoyed and during the afternoon all the children and some of their parents went tobogganning, which was fun for all. Others spent the afternoon visiting. A sing-song of Christmas carols by the children was enjoyed and all agreed it had been a good family get-together. James Cook of Owen Sound visited with his mother Jean and also visited with his father Ab, who is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. Relatives, friends and neighbours wish Ab a speedy recovery. 10 tables in play at euchre
