Belgrave Jr. Girls win 3-2
The Belgrave Junior Girls took to
the ice again this past weekend
against Monkton, and skated to a
hard-fought 3-2 victory.
Belgrave goals were scored by
Laura Meiers, Peggy Procter and
Candace Procter.
PeeWees lose
The Brussels PeeWee Rep team
had a difficult time this past week,
losing two lopsided games.
On Thursday, they were defeated
by Wingham 8-1. Brian Oldfield
scored the lone Brussels goal,
assisted by Marc Fischer.
On Friday, they lost 12-1 to
Milverton. Oldfield again scored
the lone Brussels goal, this time
assisted by Andy Van Beck.
Coach Cam Procter commended
both teams on a very competitive
game. He said the Belgrave girls
executed a good passing game
against a much-improved squad
from Monkton.

Blyth PeeWees take consolation
The Blyth PecWee Reps
competed in the Royal Canadian
Legion District "C" hockey
tournament in Durham this past
weekend.
After dropping their first game,
Blyth then won their next two to
capture the consolation trophy.
Blyth opened the tournament
against St. Marys. Trailing 4-3
midway through the third period,
St. Marys sealed the game with
three goals in the last five minutes
to post a 7-3 win.
Blyth then met Port Elgin in a
must win game. Blyth scored twice
in the first period and built a 4-0
lead, then hung on to win 4-2.
Although Blyth led the entire
game, it was the superb
performance of goaltender Aaron
Bakker that held off the Port Elgin
offence.
Blyth then moved on to the
consolation final against Paisley.
Blyth scored on the first shift of
the game and never trailed enroute
to a 7-2 win. Again, Bakker came
up big in the Blyth net when called
upon. Tournament goal scorers
were Matt Anderson with four,
Shawn Bromley with three, Adam
Anderson with two and Jeremy
VanAmersfoort, Joel Arthur, Bryce
The Brussels Crusaders continue
to hold third place in Senior "A"
hockey with a 10-6-2 record.
Last Friday four goals by Dean
Wheeler weren't enough as the
Crusaders lost 7-6 in Clinton. J.C.
Hewitt and Dwaine Nichols also
scored for Brussels while Tim
Harrison with two, Derek Jefferson,
Tom Turner, Randy Marriage,
Wayne Smith and Paul McLlwain
replied for Clinton.
Harrison's two goals came 38
seconds apart early in the third to
tie the game at five.
Last Saturday, Crusaders goalie
Jay Evershed made 51 saves in a 3-
3 tie with Ripley. Corey McKee,
Kevin McArter and Hewitt scored
for Brussels while Sean
McKegney, Brent Armstrong and
Kyle McMillan scored one each for
Ripley.
McMillan's goal came with 43
seconds remaining in the third
period. The Crusaders were outshot
28-10 over the final 20 minutes
plus a five-t::_nute overtime.
Sunday afternoon the Crusaders
came from a 3-0 deficit to defeat
Toll, Drew Corneil and Dave
Ansley each with singles.
Assists went to Drcw Corneil,
six; Dave Ansley, three; Bryce
Toll, three; Darrell McDougall,
two; Jeremy VanAmersfoort, two;
Derek Cook, Tyler, Stewart,
Graham Worsell and Shawn
Bromley.
The players and coaches of the
PeeWee team would like to thank
Blyth Legion Branch 420 for their
sponsorship in the tournament.
In league play, last Wednesday
night, Blyth totally dominated
Wingham the last two periods
enroute to an 11-2 win. Scoring for
Blyth were Drew Corneil, four;
Matt Anderson, three; Shawn
Bromley, two; Jeremy VanAmers-
foort and Joel Arthur. Assists were
credited to Shawn Bromley, four;
Joel Arthur, two; Graham Worsell,
Drew Corneil, Matt Anderson,
Derek Cook, Darrell McDougall,
The Blyth Juveniles lost a close
3-1 game to Elma-Logan on
Sunday afternoon.
Greg Blok scored for Blyth,
assisted by Chris Stewart and Mike
S alverda.
Coach Neil Salverda expressed
the Drayton Comets 5-3. McKee
set up four goals, including singles
by Brian Campbell, Ted Sills, Dale
Timmerrnans and Steve Fritz. Tom
McDonald started the comeback
scoring the Crusaders opening goal
with seven minutes remaining in
second period action.
The 5th annual Senior "A" All-
Star game was held in Palmerston
Saturday night with the South
taking the last shot in a 10-9
victory. The South was comprised
of players from Goderich, Clinton,
Brussels and Ripley as well as the
Brussels management staff, while
the North was represented by
Arthur, Drayton, Palmerston and
Wiarton.
Clinton's Paul McLlwain enjoyed
a four goal game and was awarded
the game MVP Award for the
second year in a row.
Other goal scorers included the
Crusaders Ron Strome with three
and singles by Mike Reaume and
Carl Stanley of Ripley as well as
Maurice Guy of Clinton. Tom Fritz
and Corey McKee each assisted on
one while Steve Fritz set up two.

Blyth returned to Wingham
Sunday night for a return match.
Blyth looked very sluggish in this
game, after playing three on
Saturday.
With the score tied 3-3 late in the
second period, Blyth notched two
shorthanded goals in a minute to
take a two goal lead into the third.
The boys skated much better in the
third period, scoring three times
and netting an 8-3 victory.
Scoring for Blyth were Matt
Anderson, three; Joel Arthur, two;
Dave Ansley, Shawn Bromley and
Derek Cook. Picking up assists
were Tyler Stewart, two; Ansley,
Arthur, Cook, M. Anderson,
Darrell McDougall, Bryce Toll and
Drew Comeil.
Blyth's next game is at home
Wednesday night against Milverton
at 7:00.

start, the only game the Crusaders

Blyth Tykes
shutout
Clinton
The Blyth Tykes won a lopsided
12-0 game against Clinton 11 this
past Saturday.
Orie Falconer earned the shutout.
Blyth's goals were all scored by
Josh Albrechtas, Darcey Cook and
Jeffrey Elliott.
Coach Rich Elliott congratulated
his players on a good team effort,
and singled out Blake Hesselwood,
Kendall Whitfield, Jenna Rinn,
Sidney Slotegraaf, Devin Jenkins
and Joel Salverda for their strong
efforts.
The team plays host to Goderich
this Saturday at 1 p.m.
