THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3, 1996 PAGE 21.
East Wawanosh sets tire dumping fee
East Wawanosh Township
council met on Dec. 19 and agreed
that beginning Feb. 1, residents
dropping off tires to the township
landfill site would be charged $5
for passenger car tires, $10 for
truck tires (20" or larger) and $20
for tractor tires (30" rims and
larger).
Stickers for the buried or covered
garbage will be given to residents
of the Township. If a person rents a
house, the tenants will be given the
stickers. Each household will be
provided with 50 stickers for the
year 1996.
After hearing a presentation from
Wheels Away representatives Bar-
bara Langer-McDOugall, Alex
McDougall and Ron Beecroft,
Morris council decided, at the Dec.
19 meeting, to accept a new pay-
ment plan for the program.
The payment plan would see
each municipality pay 25 cents per
capita plus $2 per ride in lieu of a
share of the deficit. The plan would
provide a more accurate budgeting
figure of the municipalities.
In accepting Chart 2 of the pro-
posal, the plan will take effect on
Jan. 2.
A problem with the tile between
Lots 23 and 24, Plan 167 of Blue-
vale was discussed. It was agreed
the tile should be checked, but fur-
ther discussions would be deferred
to the next meeting when the issue
could be talked over with the
Health Unit.
Council agreed to apply to the
Ministry of Agriculture, Food and
Rural Affairs, for a grant under the
drain maintenance program.
The township accepted the quote
from Barry Weigel for the comple-
Stickers will be distributed to the
households by the councillors
accompanied by a list of all the
materials that are recyclable. The
charge for extra tags will be $2 per
tag. Residents will also have to pay
to drop off items such as
mattresses, chesterfields, sofas,
play pens, kitchen tables and
chairs, lawn chairs and day beds.
Residents dropping off mattresses,
chesterfields and daybeds will be
charged $2 per item or have a
sticker. Kitchen tables and chairs,
play pens, lawn chairs and day beds
to be dismantled as much as
possible, with a sticker or $2
tion of the Wells Drain.
A bylaw was passed authorizing
the Mills Drain repairs. The bylaw
will go to Hullett council for con-
sideration.
Bylaws were passed for the actu-
al expenditures for the Nichol
Drain and the interim billing for the
The Huron Perth District Health
Council has received funding from
the Ministry of Health to develop a
Health Promotion Plan for the
district.
The DHC is in the process of
appointing members to the Health
Promotion Planning committee.
The planning committee will
include consumer representatives,
service providers and other
interested community members.
Individuals who have
involvement with issues or sectors,
such as the following, will be
invited to participate in the
planning process: healthy lifestyles
(i.e. nutrition, physical activity,
alcohol use and tobacco use),
charge.
Council will also begin charging
for loads of drywall, bale wire,
asphalt shingles, carpet and
underlay and non-recyclable
plastics and feedbags.
The charge will be $5 for a pick-
up load, $20 to $25 for a wagon
load and $50 for a dump-load
truck. There will also be a charge
of $30 to open the landfill gates
during the week.
Council also agreed to the new
fees for planning applications
recently approved by the County of
Huron council.
Wilbee Drain.
Morris Twp. will co-host the
AMCTO 1997 annual zone meeting
along with Brussels and Grey Twp.

economic/business, education,
environment, healthy and children
and youth, rural health, social
support services, transportation,
etc.
Input into the planning process
will also be sought through
consultation with the residents and
service providers in the district.
Kelly Gillis, health planner will
be providing support to the Health
Promotion Planning Committee. If
you are interested in getting
involved in, or finding out more
about the health promotion
planning process, contact her at
(519)-272-1480 or Fraser Bell,
executive director, at (519) 348-
4498.
It was noted that the fee for re-
zoning went down from $1,000 to
$925 and the fee for a severance
was decreased from $750 to $605.
However, the fee for a minor
variance was increased from $610
to $650.
Although council had no
complaints with the new fees, they
were requesting a reduced fee for a
renewal of a temporary zoning
amendment. Apparently, the
County had reduced the fee for
Grey Township by 25 per cent.
Council will also bring in an
engineer to design equipment from
the well in the Humphrey
subdivision.
The decision was made after
Roads Superintendent Ralph
Campbell informed council of a
recent survey he had to complete
for the Ministry of the Environment
and Energy (MOEE).
Campbell informed council that
he would also have to assess all the
wells used by public buildings on a
daily basis, rather than on a weekly
basis as he has been doing.
As well as getting an engineer to
design the equipment for the well,
council will also have to come up
with a procedure in case something
goes wrong.
