gave his final sermon here.
Greeters were Bill and Susan
Howson. Organist was Phyllis
Boak. Shirley Vincent was pianist.
Campbell Diamond, son of Rev.
Diamond, entered the church with
his father and placed the Bible on
the pulpit.
Rev. Diamond opened with Call
to Worship, announcements and
Words of Welcome, welcoming
everyone to the last Sunday of

The sacrament of baptism
followed. Jill Walden lit the

The Christmas message was
carried through the service at
Auburn Missionary on Sunday,
Dec. 24 when Virginia Stright,
Lorraine Came and Pastor Came
sang, as a trio, The Wonderful Love
of My Wonderful Lord.
Pastor Carne's message "Home
for the Holidays" had scripture
from Luke 2: 1-7 and Luke 15: 3-6.
In verse 7 it tells 'no room in the
inn'. Pastor Came said, there are
many who won't be home for
Christmas, such as soldiers on
active duty, nurses and care
workers, and even street kids.
Jesus was not home for
Christmas because there was no
room in the inn. He came to His
own people and they rejected Him.

Hullett Twp. and Clinton, passed
away at Seaforth Manor Nursing
Home on Dec. 16, 1995.

April 16, 1912 to Horace and Lilian
(Howell) Tebbutt, he retired from
the RCAF in 1945, moved to Clin-
ton then to Hullett Twp., where he
farmed until his retirement. Mr.

Hullett Twp. and the Hullett Twp.
school board as well as bookkeeper
for Manning Lumber in Blyth.
In 1969, he served as the Wor-
shipful Master of Hullett Twp.
Masonic Lodge #568 and was the
District Deputy Grand Master of
the North Huron District in 1980.

Jessee R. Fender, who predeceased
him in 1988, and the loved father of
Marsha Kerr of Goderich.

Rev. Diamond delivered an
inspiring final sermon entitled
"Jesus came to save.... us!"
He made reference to the
Christmas Carol God Rest Ye
Merry Gentlemen saying it was
probably better suited to after
Christmas.
"We used to sing it with gusto
but now it seems to have
disappeared in recent years. The
Christmas? He wasn't at home
because we weren't at home, Pastor
Carne said. By nature we are
alienated from God and many
people are even uncomfortable
being in church.
The lost sheep is the story of us
all, he said. When the sheep are not
home neither is the shepherd for he
is out looking for the sheep. We are
like the lost sheep, Pastor Carrie
said. "If Jesus has not come into
your life you are not at home."
Many families will be complete
in numbers but not at home with
respect, harmony and also
criticizing one another about their
attitude, he said.
"Jesus was not at home for
Christmas because He brought us
home. Jesus is the Way, the Truth

sad thing is that what it says is true.
'To Save Us All From Satan's
Power Wheri We Have Gone
Astray'."
Rev. Diamond continued,
"Perhaps that is our problem. Who
of our sophisticated community
really admits to 'being in Satan's
Power or 'going astray'?"
In conclusion, Rev. Diamond
said, that's what Christmas is all
about. The coming of Jesus into the
world, the world of prejudice,
strife, self interest and abuse. "That
is only when we peer over the
manger, the face we see is of the
one who saves."
"When we go from here, on the
eve of a new year, let us take heart.
It is clear that He did not come to
help angels!"
and the Life and only by Jesus can

Following the offering and
Prayer of Dedication, Rev.
Diamond had a warm welcome to
all the Verburg families from the
Christian Reformed Church in
Blyth.
Bev. Snell, chair of Session, read
a letter from Rev. Stephen Huntley
in Bowral, Australia, who says he
is anxious to get back home despite
leaving 30° weather "down under",
to come here to the cold, snowy
weather.
In closing Rev. Diamond said it's
been a marvellous experience for
him, his wife Kay and sons. He was
fatigued and weary from a
challenging strain in his home
parish and said that in just a short
space of time he was given, from
this congregation, vast reserves of
goodwill, grace and love.
Following the service, a lunch
and social time was held in honour
of the "Diamonds" Ian, Kay, Elliott
and Campbell.
