Crusaders rout Pirates 12-4
The Brussels Crusaders scored
five first period goals enroute to a
12-4 win over the Godcrich Pirates
Saturday night. Steve Fritz scored
the hat-trick with Brian Campbell,
Ron Strome and Phil Livermore
scoring two each. Dean Wheeler,
Tim Fritz and Tom McDonald
completed the Crusader scoring
while Jeff Klages scored three and
set up the fourth by Mark Rowe for
the Pirates.
Before the game the Crusaders
held a special ceremony in memory

Brussels PeeWees Reps
sweep Elma-Logan in 2
The Brussels Pee Wcc Rep team
swept Elma-Logan in home-and-
home match-ups this past week.
On Wednesday, they played
hosts and came away with a 3-1
victory. Goals were scored by Tyler
Bragg, Chad Fischer and Joel
Kellington. Assists were credited to
Kellington, Matt McLellan, Chris
Blake and Andy Van Beck.
On Saturday, they travelled to
Monkton and shutout the home side
The first draw of the Brussels
Curling Club ended with the
following teams taking the top
points.
In the Monday night mixed
curling, the winners were: first,
41.5 points, Darrell Uhler, Marg
Taylor, Clem Steffler and Sarah
Exel; second, 40.5 points, Mervyn
Bauer, Mary TenPas, John Lowe
and Ashley Gropp; third, 38.5
points, Dave Lewington, Valerie
The Brussels Atom Rep, won a
close 6-4 contest against Milverton
this past week.
Nolan Krotz led the offensive
effort, with a goal and two assists.
Tyler Campbell, Lee Dilworth,
Darrell McClure and Robbie
McClure scored additional goals.
Other assists were tallied by
The Brussels Midgets lost a
tough 5-2 game to Elma-Logan last
week.
Brussels goals were scored by
Trevor Huffman. Assists were

A Blyth man sustained minor
injuries after being thrown from his
snowmobile, Dec. 23.
According to a spokesperson
from the Wingham OPP, the
mishap occurred when Randy Fras-
er, 40, was driving a 1996 Polaris
XLT, and attempted to go over a
two foot snowbank at the Brussels
arena.
Fraser injured his knee and
mouth. There was approximately
$1,500 damage done to the snow-
mobile, police say.
OPP seek info
regarding
ransacking
Police are seeking information
regarding the ransacking of a vehi-
cle in Brussels.
The car was a 1986 Hyndai Exel,
owned by Martin Hilbig of Brus-
sels. It was Fr.rkce behind Todd's
Bakery.
Anyone with information is
asked to contact the Wingham OPP
5-0. McLellan and Kellington led
the offensive effort, with a goal and
two assists, and two goals and an
assist respectively.
Other goals were scored by
Fischer and Matt Cameron. Further
assists were given to Blake and
Brian Oldfield.
Coach Murray Kellington said,

On Saturday, the boys played
host to Monkton. This time, they
came up on the short end of a 6-3
score. Brussels goals were scored
by Dilworth, Krotz and Campbell
with an assist being credited to
Krotz.

Coach Gary Dauphin said the
boys played a good game, but need
some time to get their rhythm back
after the long holiday. He hopes
they are ready by their Jan. 14
tournament in Glencoe.

Last Sunday the Crusaders
returned home from Drayton with a
7-4 win. Steve Fritz scored once
and set up four while Phil
Livermore Scored three. Singles
were added by Ron Strome, Jeff
Earl and Dean Wheeler.
The Crusaders were in Clinton
Friday night and played the first
place Ripley Wolves Saturday.
Saturday, Jan. 8 is the Senior "A"
All-Star Game in Palmerston. The
Crusaders will be represented by
Tim and Steve Fritz, Ron Strome,
Corey McKee, Pat Cronin and the
Crusader coaching staff.
The Crusaders recently signed
Fordwich native Phil Livermore
and goaltender Jay Evershed.
Livermore has Jr B experience in
Listowel and played Provincial Jr
A with Barrie last season, while
Evershed, who started the season in
Milverton, last played for Sheridan
College and has Jr B experience in
Burlington, Milton and Ottawa.
