Juveniles' Bromley
earns two hattricks Rush on the net
The Blyth Juveniles won the
championship at a tournament in
Walkerton last Tuesday and
Wednesday.
In their first game, they won a
close 4-3 contest against Monkton.
Blyth goals were scored by Mike
Heffron, Greg Blok, Mike Bromley
and Chris Stewart. Coach Neil
Salverda said it was a very
suspenseful game, and close from
beginning to end.
In their second contest they took
advantage of a sluggish Brampton
squad, coming away with a
convincing 10-5 victory. Blyth
players tallied three hattricks in the
game. Heffron, Bromley and
Stewart accounted for nine of
Blyth's 10 goals, with Tim Lyons
scoring another.
The Blyth Atoms travelled to
Bayfield for a pre-Christmas
contest on Dec. 23.
After losing 6-1 to them in a
previous game, they responded this
time by defeating their opponents
5-4.
After Bayfield took the lead in
the first, Cole Stewart tied the
game at 4:56, assisted by Justin
Rinn and Nick Courtney.
Bayfield took the lead again, at
9:24 of the second. At 7:53,
Michael Bean tied the score.
Assists on that goal were granted to
Micah Loder and Martin
Sturzenegger.
Blyth finally took the lead at
14:49 of the third when Cole
Stewart put the puck in the net,
assisted by Loder and Kirk Stewart.
Bayfield then responded with two
unanswered goals at 12:58 and
12:15.
Despite taking three penalties in
the final 10 minutes, however,
Blyth came back to take the
Joel Kellington's second period

to a 9-1 win over visiting Goderich
Wednesday night.
Mike Cooper, Cory Bragg,
Shawn Engel, Ryan Stnith, Sam
Zahnd and Phil Affolter also scored
for the Bantams who scored six
times in the second for the win.
Stephen Oldfield lost the shutout
bid early in third period action.
The Bantams have four games
remaining in their schedule. They
are at home to Seaforth on
Wednesday, Jan. 3, then travel to
Goderich the following Wednes-
day.
Tykes win 12-3
The Belgrave Tykes won a
convincing 12-3 game this past
weekend against Lucknow. Goals
were scored by Jeremy Robinson
(five), S-..ott Phillips (three),
Christopher Campbell, Kyle Nixon,
Mark McCracken and Kevin
Freiburger.
In their third game the team put
out a solid effort against Meaford,
and came away with a 5-2 win.
Goals were scored by Heffron
(two), Stewart, Benji Hakkers and
Mark Wilson.
Coach Salverda was very
impressed with his team in this
game. They had only two penalties
in the game, and scored all five of
their goals in the final frame.
In the tournament final, Blyth
met a squad from Teeswater.
Bromley tallied his second hattrick
of the tournament, and Stewart
added another as the team went on
to a convincing 4-1 victory.
Coach Salverda commended his
team for their solid effort through
the whole tournament, and gave
credit to goaltender Craig Bayton
for his solid play.
victory. Cole Stewart scored two
short-handed goals, at 7:55 and
3:39, assisted by Loder, Courtney
and Kirk Stewart.
Last Saturday, the boys showed
strong discipline again, salvaging a
4-4 tie against Clinton. Blyth
scored only one goal in the first
two periods. At 9:16 of the second
Shaun Henry, assisted by Courtney
and Cole Stewart, scored for Blyth.
At the end of two periods,
however, the score was 4-1 for
Clinton, then with less than 10
minutes to play in the third, Blyth
came back to gain the tie. At 9:11,
Cole Stewart scored, assisted by
Steven Van Amersfoort. At 6:47,
Stewart tallied again, this time
assisted by Loder and Jeff Carter.
Finally, at 5:46, Blyth tied the
game, when Robbie Archambault
scored an unassisted goal.
Coach Tom Jarrett was very
impressed with his team's effort,
and their ability to come from
behind in each game.
Home games against Mitchell
and Milverton complete their 95-96
season with playoffs to start in
February.
In a valiant effort, the Brussels
Bulls narrowly missed tieing the
first place Mt. Forest Patriots in a
home game Thursday night.
After a goal by Tim Beyer,
assisted by Greg Fritz, the Bulls
were down by one going into the
second period. Then already down

championship trophy.
Their first game against
Lucknow ended in a score of 8-0.
Goal scorers for Blyth were Matt
Anderson, Jeff Klassen, Shawn
Bromley, Joel Arthur, Mike Ber-
nard and Jeremy Van Amersfoort.
Shut out goalies Ryan Lee and
Aaron Bakker did a great job
between the pipes.
The wait between games caught
up with the Blyth boys and found
them dogging the Wiarton team, for
their second game, all the way to
the final buzzer. The score was 5-4
in Blyth's favour with goals scored
by Bromley, Anderson and Van
Amersfoort.
The last game against Wingham
was a well played effort and
showed in the final score of 4-1.
The Blyth team wowed the crowd
with their tremendous ability,
passing the puck around with
everyone playing their positions
properly. Goals were scored by
Derek Cook, Anderson and
Klassen.
MVP for the game was goalie
Bakker, who played the whole
game and definitely deserved the
award given! (Best dressed goalie

the remainder of the game.
Four Patriots were also ejected as
a result of the fight.
Despite being down by several
players, the team kept it together
long enough to let Beyer notch his
second goal in the third. Assists
went to Darren Alviano and Josh
Alexander. Unfortunately, goalie
Jamie Taylor, who was besieged by
44 shots, couldn't hold out against
Ryan Lee was sidelined with a
headache).
The Blyth team accepted their

the Belmore representative. The
team is pleased to have had the

There were three Brussels goals in
the first. The first was shot through
the winning one, letting the Patriots
go home 3-2 victors.
