The Brussels Bantams completed
a six game segment of their
schedule over the past two weeks
and hold a 3 win - 9 loss record
heading into the Christmas
holidays.
The Bantams were shutout twice
on home ice, 8-0 by Mitchell and
12-0 by Blyth, as well as dropping
a 9-2 decision in Milverton. Cory
Bragg and Jeremy Clark scored for
Brussels with assists by Matthew
Shortreed and Jason Kellington.
Tuesday the Bantams returned
from Elma-Logan with a 7-5 win
and broke their scoreless streak on
home ice the next night with a 10-1
over Seaforth. Bragg led the
scoring with five goals and two
assists in the wins while Clint
Fischer scored four and set up one.
The struggles continued for the
Brussels Bulls this past weekend
with two losses in Junior C hockey
action.
On Friday, the team came up
with a huge loss against the hosting
Wingham Ironmen. Scoring for
Brussels in this 9-2 trouncing were
Tim Beyer and Brandon Alviano.
On Sunday afternoon the Bulls
hosted the last place Wiarton
Wolves and missed a close 3-2
decision. Brian McNichol and
Steve Henderson scored for Brus-

The Belgrave Atoms defeated a
strong Stephen Township team 3-2
this past week.
Chad Cook led the attack with
two unassisted goals. Scott Folkard
added another, assisted by T.J.
Marks and Matt Rochetta.
Manager Gord Folkard was glad
his team won, but said, "They
looked a hale lazy and will have to
give luck a bit of credit for helping
them in their victory."
Chad Fischer and Jason
Kellington each scored two and set
up two, with single goals by Mike
Cooper, Jeremy Clark, Sam Zahnd,
and Joel Kellington. Kevin Mutter
added four assists while Darrell
Dalton, Zahnd, Clark and Trevor
Wilson had two each.
Saturday night Wilson opened
the scoring in an 8-I loss to
Mitchell.
Despite the score Coach Hugh
Nichol says the Bantams played an
excellent game considering they
lost five of 12 players late in the
second period and played two men
shorthanded (with one substitute)
for the opening seven minutes of
third period play.

sels.
Coach Charlie Smith, who took
over the bench just a little over a
week ago, had little to say about the
outcomes, adding that he is still try-
ing to get a feel for the club and
their strengths and weaknesses.
The Bulls next home game is
Thursday, Dec. 28 at 8:30 p.m.
against Mt. Forest. This Friday they
travel to Kincardine to meet the
Bulldogs.
The Brussels Atoms glided away
with two victories in out-of-town
hockey action this past week.
The players were not very pleas-
ant guests for a hosting Monkton
team on Dec. 14, coming home
with a 9-0 victory.
Brandon Dixon got things started
in the first with a hand from Sean
Hoegy. In the second period the
team added two with Joel Heming-

Bayfield
Bayfield Tykes got off to a great
start against Brussels in their recent
hockey action, scoring three
straight unanswered goals, but then
it was all Brtissels.
Leading the scoring for Brussels
with a natural hat-trick was Chris
Corbett. Also scoring for Brussels
was Adam Corbet, Justin Thomp-
son, Cory Chapman, and Mathew
White. Picking up assists were
Chase Chapman, Cory Chapman,
and Chris Corbett.
In net for Brussels was Nathan
Prior, who ensured the victory by
making some terrific saves and not
allowing any rebounds.
Evenly spread talent and great
team work was the reason Brtissels
was able to come from behind to
win. "Everybody would agree this
was the best game yet," said the
coaches.
Novices lose 2
The Brussels Novice team
engaged in two losing efforts this
past weekend.
On Friday, Elma Logan defeated
them 10-5. Scott Armstrong scored
four goals in the losing cause, three
of which were unassisted. Brandon
Blake added another goal and an
assist.
On Sunday, Mitchell defeated
them 6-1. Blake scored Brussels'
lone goal in that effort.
Atoms tumble
The Blyth Atoms losva tough 2-1
game to Goderich II this past
Saturday.
After Goderich took a 2-0 lead,
with goals at 7:11 of the first and
0:23 of the second, Cole Stewart
scored for Blyth, assisted by Nick
Courtney, at 10:41 of the final
period.
Unfortunately, the comeback was
not meant to be. Despite several
opportunities in the final five
minutes, which included a couple
of powerplays and hit goalposts,
the Goderich defense held on for
the win.

ed by Jeff Linton and Daniel
Cameron, getting the second. Brit-
tany Kellington had the assist on
the Cameron point.
Goalie Brooklyn Wheeler held
off the home team to earn the shut
out, while the offense kept the
onslaught coming to add six more
before the game ended.
Hoegy set up Hemingway, then
Tyler Campbell snuck one between
the Monkton pipes unassisted.
Hemingway got his hattrick, then
Kyle Stephenson handed off to
Kellington who nudged it home.
Hemingway scored his final shot at
the 2:17 mark, 'with an assist going
to Dixon. Then with seconds left in
the game, Campbell got his second
off a pass from Cameron.
The strong play continued two
days later when the team travelled
to Zurich and came home with 7-2
decision.
