PAGE 23. Brussels Livestock report Cunningham steer reaches $100 high Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Dec. I were: fed cattle, 619; cows, 286; veal calves, 241; lambs and goats, 137; stockers, 1,128 and pigs, 147. The market at Brussels Livestock saw fed steers and heifers selling $2 - $3 higher. Cows sold $2 - $3 higher. On Thursday veal sold on a strong trade. Lambs sold on. a very strong active trade. The stockers on Friday sold on a very strong active trade. There were 419 steers on offer selling from $88 to $93 to the high of $100. Fifty steers consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, averaging 1,414 lbs. sold for an average of $91.88 with sales to $100. Forty-two steers consigned by Prospect Feed Lots Ltd., Wyoming, averaging 1,267 lbs. sold for an average of $88.65 with sales to $96.50. Six steers consigned by Ron Kestner, The 1995 edition of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto is over and once again, Huron County was well represented in many categories. The youth competed well with Carla Cook of RR1 Belgrave, plac- ing third in Brown Swiss Confor- mation Class, third in 4-H Show- manship Class between ages 12-21 and fifth in Intermediate Showman- ship in the Scotiabank Hays Clas- sic. Patrick Hallahan of RR3 Blyth, earned a seventh in Senior Show- manship in the Scotiabank Hays Classic and sixth in the Senior Heifer Conformation Class. In the beef cattle category: Ken and Marlene Armstrong of RR I Londesboro, 10th captured for a Simmental Bull Calf, minimum three months of age, born in 1995; Kevin Howatt, of RR1 Auburn, two- 1 lth place finishes for Sim- mental Female Calves born in 1995, minimum three months olds and an eighth and ninth for Female Calves born between Jan. 1 and Dec.31, 1994. Clayton Salter of RR1 Listowel, earned a second and third in the Market Beef Singles, Galloway class. In the Holstein classification, Paul and Ellen Gibbings of RR 1 Clinton captured fifth for Junior Champion Female and Reserve and 18th for Female, Intermediate Yearling, born Dec. 1, 1993 to end of February 1994. For La Mancha Doe Kids, three to six months, Robert Stokes of RR2 Bluevale, grabbed first and second as well as fourth for Dairy Goat Junior Showmanship, ages 14-16 and 14th for Market Kids, 50 to a maximum of 80 lbs. In the Clydesdale Performance class, Bob Robertson and family of RR1 Listowel, received first in the Two-Horse Team, light draft; fourth-Two-Horse Team, heavy draft; third-Four-Horse Team; sev- enth-"Budweiser" Six-Horse Team; first and fifth-"Lois Teeple Memo- rial Trophy" Ladies Two-Wheeled Cart and first-Unicorn Hitch. Robertson also earned second for Stallion, foaled in 1993; second- Junior Champion Stallion and Reserve; ninth-Grand Champion Stallion and Reserve; ninth-Brood Mare and second-Get of Sire. In the Clydesdale Draft Horse competition, Robertson took sec- ond-Gelding or Grade Mare, foaled in 1992 or 1993 and second-Geld- ing or Grade Marc, light draft, 4 years or over.
