N. Spivey plays piano for UCW
Sparks, Brownies
talk nutrition
On Thursday, Nov. 23 the
Brownies and Sparks met at the
Community Centre for their regular
meeting.
Patti Nixon did the nutrition
badge with the girls. Brownies
made, and brought, nutritious
snacks from each of the four food
groups.
Sparks played bingo with
nutrition. They also brought
pictures of nutritious food and not
so nutritious food.
The Brownies taught the Sparks
games that they usually play. They
finished the evening with snack and
juice.
Congratulations to Mike and
Debbie Pfeiffer from friend,
neighbours on the occasion of their
15th wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Ida Evans and Mrs. Ella
Graber from Brussels visited with
Harold and Edith Vincent, last
Thursday afternoon.
Don and Carol Vincent of
Petitcodiac, New Brunswick, spent
the weekend with their parents,
George and Greta Webster,
Wingham and Harold and Edith
Vincent, Belgrave.
Harold and Edith Vincent had a
surprise visit on Sunday afternoon
Mabel's Moms met on
Wednesday for their regular time.
Their topic was Income Taxes. One
member brought newspaper
excerpts about the subject.

The girls each took home a copy
of Cana& Food rules as well as a
milk cow magnet with a friction
chart.
Patti Nixon was thanked by the
girls doing the "Grand Howl". In
appreciation they gave her a box of
Girl Guide cookies.
Brownies and Sparks learned
Christmas Carols at their meeting
Nov. 30. Lila Procter spent the
evening teaching the girls different
carols which they will be singing
on Thursday, Dec. 21 as they carol
around the village from 6:30 - 7:30
p.m.
from two cousins, Thillman and
Mike Wallace from Chugiak,
Alaska.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson
spent the past week visiting with
some of their family. The first
weekend was in Peterborough with
Doreen and Rob Roy, Christine and
Emily and the rest of the week was
with Sheila and Doug Cousins and
Brandon in Guelph.
Congratulations from friends,
neighbours, and relatives to Paul
and Karen Cook on the birth of
their baby girl Sarah on Tuesday,
Nov. 28.

Christmas decorations through-
out the church basement welcomed
the Belgrave UCW members to
their general meeting on Thursday,
Nov. 23 at 8 p.m.
President Wilma Higgins
welcomed all and Muriel Coultes
volunteered to be secretary for the
evening.
The poem "God's Precious Gift"
was read after which Nathan
Spivey played a piece on the piano
called "Halloween". Nathan and his
mother Anne then played a duet,
The First Noel after which Anne
played, 0 Holy Night.
The worship service was led by
Ruth Gordon and Joyce Vincent,
who read the Christmas stories
from the Bible and several short
meditations. Several carols were
also sung. Candles were lit to
represent areas of today's society
and families who need our prayers.
Barbara Anderson introduced the
program with a reading about
"Advent Expectations". Taking part
in the presentation called "Waiting

budget was approved. Several
donations were made to local
groups and a collection box was
filled with donations for the
Christmas Bureau.
Mary Hunter read a report of the
archives for the year, prepared by
Olive Bolt.
The report of the nominating
committee was given by Jane
Grasby, after which Rev. Mary
Jane Hobden conducted the
installation of the officers. Newly
elected officers are president,
