Zurich doubles Blyth
The Blyth Atoms lost a tough 4-2
game to Zurich this past
Wednesday.
After Zurich scored their four
goals in the first half of the game,
Blyth took control, but were unable
to catch up. With 22 seconds left in
the .second, Justin Rinn scored
Blyth's first goal, assisted by Nick
Courtney and Shaun Henry. Henry
added another, assisted by Cole
Stewart, at 11:10 of the third.
'Coach Tom Jarrett was very
pleased with his team's refusal to
give up. They had several good
chances and, despite their failure to
score more goals, kept taking it to
the Zurich team.
Brandon Dixon scored for Brus-
sels at 2:53 of the third, assisted by
Kyle Stephenson and Joel Heming-
way.
Coach Merle Hoegy said Bel-
grave came out too quick and out-
hustled Brussels for the whole
game.
At a tournament held in Howick
Belgrave won two of three games.
In their first they defeated St.
Marys 6-1.
Folkard led the offensive effort,
again, with two goals. Matthew
Rochetta, Cook, McCracken and
Garrett Knight added further goals.
In their second game, they were
shutout 2-0 by Walkerton.
In their third game, the offense
again picked up and doubled up
Howick by a score of 4-2.
When no goals were scored by
either team in the first, Belgrave
took the lead with three in the sec-
ond, and finished the game with
one more in the third. Folkard and
Knight had a pair of goals each.
Coach Gord praised the improve-
ment he has seen in his team's play.
"They are learning to work together
as a team and are starting to play
their positions well," he said.
Atoms Reps nip Mitchell
This past Saturday, the Brussels
Atom Rep team earned a tough 4-3
victory over Mitchell.
Nolan Krotz scored for Brussels
in the second period, assisted by
Darryl Houston, but the teams took
to the ice in the third with Mitchell
ahead 2-1.
Krotz cued the comeback in the
final frame, assisted by Kyle
Stephenson. Both remaining goals
were scored by Mark Hunter, with
one assist going to Tyler Campbell.
The team plays in the Wingham
Silver Stick Tournament this
weekend.

The Blyth Bantams took to the
ice last Monday against Elma-
Logan, and came away with a solid
6-1 victory. Jeff Cowan led the
offensive effort, with two goals and
two assists.

busy schedule this past, engaging in
live contests.
On Thursday, they travelled to
Monkton and came home with a
convincing 7-1 victory.
Chad led the way with a hat-trick
for the visitors for the victors.
Additional goals were scored by
Scott Folkard (two) and T.J. Marks
(two).
On Saturday their offensive
strength was again in evidence, as
they handed a 5-1 defeat to Brus-
sels.
Folkard led the led the attack this
time with two goals while Matthew
Bromley, Chad Cook and Ken
McCracken each tallied one.
Crusaders win

Paul Mcllwain and Bob Snell
scored three each for Clinton while
Tim Harrison added two. Jason
Fleet, John Graham and John
Scruton completed the Clinton rout.
Saturday night Mike MacKay,
Brent Vandenakker, Tim Fritz,
Tom McDonald and Jeff Earl all
scored to lead the Crusaders to a 5-
3 win over the visiting Arthur
Tigers. The line of Fritz-Sills-
Vandenakker broke a 2-2 tic
scoring on the powerplay late in the
second, then opening third period
scoring with another goal one
minute into play.
The Crusaders only game this
weekend is a rematch against the
Tigers Friday night in Arthur.
In off-ice happenings the
Crusaders have been selected to
coach the South Division bench in
the Senior "A" All-Star Gamc Jan.
6 in Palmerston. Players from
Brussels, Clinton, Godcrich and
Ripley will combine to meet the
best from Drayton, Arthur, Wiarton
and Palmerston.
