Crusaders crush Palmerston
The Brussels Crusaders split
weekend action and hold a 6-3
won/loss record in WOAA Senior

Friday night in Wiarton, the
Crusaders lost a 6-4 decision to the
hometown Redmen. Dean Wheeler
scored twice with singles by Brian
Campbell and Corey McKee while
Dwaine Nicholls had three assists.
Tied at one after 20 minutes,
Wiarton held a 4-2 lead after 40

Joel Kellington opened the
scoring for Brussels at 4:25 of the
first, with an assist going to Brian
Oldfield.
The offense peaked during the
second, when they added four
goals. At 12:32, Phil Affolter put
the puck in the net, with an assist
going to Marc Fischer. Three
unassisted goals were added before
the end of the period by Kellington
at 8:52 and 2:10, and by Affolter at
0:46. Monkton scored their only
goal in the third.
Coach Murray Kellington said
the team played a very good
positional game, and gave the
defense credit for allowing only
one goal.
Blackhawks bounce Bulls
Brussels Bantams win opener
The Brussels Bantams won their
first game of the year with a 6-0
win in Goderich Wednesday night.
Kevin Mutter led the attack with
two goals while Jason Kellington,
Chad Fischer, Joel Kellington and
Clint Fischer scored singles. Clint
Fischer added three assists, while
Chad Fischer and Jeremy Clark
each had two assists.
Stephen Oldfield went the
distance for the shutout.
Saturday afternoon the Bantams
lost to Stephen Twp. by a 5-1
score. Mike Cooper broke the
shutout bid of the Huron Park
goaltender scoring unassisted late
in the third period.
Belgrave Atoms
earn 2-2 tie
The Belgrave Atoms played a
close game against Zurich this past
week, coming home with a 2-2 tie.
Trevor Koehler scored Belgrave's
first goal, in the second period,
assisted by T.J. Marks.
They added to their lead in the
third, when Garrett Knight scored,
assisted by Kyle Campbell and
Koehler. However, their lead
disappeared, when Zurich scored
two goals in the final 1,0 minutes of
the game to get the tie.
Manager Gord Folkard said the
boys played a good game, but were
just tired out by the end, and could
not hold the lead.
A week ago Monday the
Bantams gave up seven first period
goals in losing to Blyth 11-5. Clint
Fischer scored three with singles by
Mike Cooper and Trevor Wilson.
Wilson's and two by Fischer were
scored with Brussels playing

McCall divided the goaltending
duties.
Wednesday night the Mitchell
Bantams arrive in town for a 7:30
start while Monday the Bantams
travel to Milverton.
