The early years class has been
having a lot of fun learning about
dinosaurs. The T-Rex is their all
time favourite so far. If you go into
their classroom you will see all
kinds of stuffed dinos hanging from
the ceiling. The kids are so fond of
dinosaurs that they even made
dinosaur pasta.
The Grade 1 class has been
finishing up their unit on geometric
shapes. They have just completed
constructing squares and rectangles
using jinx wood. The kids learned
how to use- different tools to
construct these shapes, such as
hack saws, (junior) keyhole saws,
and mitre boxes.
The Grade 2s finished their
native studies by watching a movie
about Native Legends. They also
did some soap carvings. The class
has began to practise for the
upcoming Christmas concert, Dec.
14. Mrs. Vivian is wondering if
anyone has a 'kids-size' Santa suit
that they would like to lend.
Mrs. Scott said that her class has
now finished reading Stone Fox. It
had a very sad ending and half of
the class said that they would like
to change the ending.
It was also pay day for the class.
I'm afraid that it was tax time and
some just did not have enough
money, so she is taking classroom
service for payment. The class
begun its native village and has
also been designing native tools
and weapons. Students have to
make something to carry or wear as
part of their costume for the
Christmas play. I saw some pretty
authentic looking tomahawks
displayed.

Pastor speaks at WI meeting
The Walton WI members and
guests met at Viola Kirkby's house
on Nov. 21. The group has
collected a number of 3" by 4"
squares knitted by the members,
which all WIs were invited to do, to
send to Zambia. The square are
then shipped to Zambia and are
given to the handicapped people as
a means of employment. The
squares are sewn together to make
various items to sell.
Darrell, Jennifer and Adam
McClure were greeters at Duff's
United Church on Nov. 24. Mark
Wilbee was the candle lighter for
the service.
Rev. Randy Banks called clerk of
session, Leona McDonald and the
Williamson family to the back of
the church where the painting of
Duff's United Church and manse
was unveiled and dedicated in
memory of Roy Williamson.
Rev. Randy Banks was guest
speaker and he talked about
citizenship. He said how respected
Canadians are as they travel
throughout the world. He discussed
the citizen act.
The book entitled, 'Women's
Institute' is now completed. It is a
book about the WIs in Huron
County and was put together by the
Huron Historical Society.
Rev. Banks announced that next
Sunday will be White Gift Sunday
with the children leading the
service and presenting the play,
'The Unwrapped Gift'. Communion
will be served as well. There will
be muffins and coffee downstairs
after the service.
Also that night people are invited
to attend the Advent Music Hour
with Ron Klusmeier, starting at
8 p.m.
