People host weekend guests
Good attendance
at Belgrave WI
Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Smithson
of Downsview were guests for a
couple of days at the home of Mrs.
Beth Procter.
Recently Mrs. Howard Zettler,
RR 4, Walkerton visited with her
mother Mrs. Beth Procter.
Congratulations to Tony and
Candace Chaffe on the arrival of
their son, Austin Ronald.
Congratulations to Mike and
Kate (Procter) Klages on the birth
of their son Lucas George.
Congratulations from friends and
neighbours to Warren and Evelyn
Rich who celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary on Nov. 18.
Gordon McBurney recently
returned home after spending more
than six weeks in the Wingham and
District Hospital. Friends,
neighbours and relatives wish
Gordon a speedy recovery.
Mrs. Marilyn Dusky and Trevor
of New Hamburg spent last
weekend at Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Taylor's. Trevor had played five
games in the Silver Stick Hockey
Tournament held in Wingham all
week. New Hamburg won four
games in a row playing very well
with great team spirit throughout,
allowing them to go onto win the
championship.
Their fifth game for the
championship was up against
Seaforth. It was a real nail biter of a
game being tied throughout. In the
last 21 seconds of the game
Seaforth scored on a breakaway
with New Hamburg losing 4-3.
New Hamburg had played
Seaforth earlier in the tournament
and had beaten them 5-3.
Seaforth now advances to the
next series held in Sarnia in
January.
Mr. and Mrs. Mark Taylor and
Emily of Mitchell were dinner
guests at Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor.
John and Kay Roberts recently
returned from Britain where they

the Women's Institute Hall on
Wednesday, Nov. 22.
Winners were: high lady, Shirley
Hackett; most twos, Audrey Edgar;
lone hands, Lois Chamney; low
lady, Norma Moore; high man,
Lloyd Appleby; most twos, Gordon
Thedorf; lone hands, Edythe
Coultes, playing as, a man; low
man, Ruth Johnston, playing as a
man.
The next euchre will be
Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 8 p.m.

Remington, 133, 166; Grace
Walden, 92, 149; Marj Coultes,
160, 121; Kay McCormick, 118,

Cloakey, 112, 120; Annie Cook,
71, 120, Mabel Wheeler, 122, 168.

Friday, Nov. 24 at the Women's
Institute Hall.

as a man; most shoots, Garner

had spent a month visiting with
family and friends. During their
stay they were pleased to enjoy the
warmest weather which had ever
been recorded for that time of the
year.
They were alw surprised to note
that a hose watering ban was still in
effect, following the hot, dry,
summer conditions which were
experienced this year.
Mabels' Moms met on the regular
day at the home of Mabel Wheeler.
Those present were Donna
Raynard, Trevor and Heidi, Waneta
Leishman and Melissa; Kim
Higgins and Laura; Linda Hess and
Andrew; Sherri Sippel, Christie,
Scott and Daniel; Claren Yuill;
Melinda Dorsch; Sherry Taylor and
Brandon and Rev. Mary Jane
Hobden. Their topic was Literacy.
A good attendance was present
for the Women's Institute meeting
which was held in the Women's
Institute Hall on Nov. 21.
Dorothy Coultes, president,
welcomed everyone and the Open-
ing Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and
WI Grace were repeated in unison.
The secretary/treasurer, Diane
Robinson read the minutes of the
last meeting which were approved
and adopted, as was the financial
report.
Beverages and delicious desserts
which had been prepared by WI
members were enjoyed by
everyone present. They were
served by Ruth Gordon and Leona
Black.
Audrey Fenton convenor for the
meeting, welcomed Mrs. Ken Good
of Auburn, who gave an interesting
demonstration of painting and
stencilling. She also invited
everyone to view the display of her
workmanship, which included
handpainting of several milk
churns, a saw, tray and kettle.
Mrs. Fenton then welcomed
Marilyn Craig and her daughter,
Debbie Hakkers of Stitches by
M.J., Blyth. Debbie demonstrated
how to make a Christmas angel and
everyone present was invited to
make one, too. After a very
industrious half hour many
delightful little angels were
produced.
Mrs. Fenton thanked both
speakers, and to everyone who had
attended the meeting. She also re-
minded members of the Christmas
Meal and program on Dec. 12 and
of its first potluck meal on Jan. 16
to which everyone is cordially
invited.
