Dec. 3/95 $5.00 off L The Blyth PeeWee Reps picked two more victories this past week. On Wednesday, Nov. 8, Mitchell II travelled to Blyth. Mitchell scored in the first minute of the game to take an early lead. However, Blyth notched two goals near the end of the period to take a 2-1 lead. Blyth broke the game open with four second period goals, then the defense took over to shut Mitchell out. The game ended in favour of Blyth 6-1. Blyth got goals from Joel Arthur, Dave Ansley, Jeremy Van Amersfoort, Drew Corneil, Matt Anderson and Derek Cook. Assists went to Van Amersfoort and Anderson, each with two, Adam Anderson, Bryce Toll, Corneil, Cook and Graham Worsell. Aaron Bakker and Dean Wilson provided steady goaltending for Blyth. The team was on the road to Monkton on Saturday, Nov. 18 to . take on Elma-Logan. Bantams skate to 11-5 win The Blyth and Brussels Bantams squared off this past Monday in Blyth, with the home side securing an 11-5 victory. Blyth goals were scored by Mike Courtney (four), Mike Haggitt (two), Mike Ansley (one), Darryl Bromley (one), Jeff Cowan (one) and Jon Kochis (one). Assists went to Cowan (four), Kyle Anderson (three), Haggitt (three), Chris Carter (two), Kochis (one), Brad Mason (one) and Darryl Postma (one). Blyth also squared off against Huron Park on Sunday. Carter scored in the first, assisted by Cowan. Huron Park tied the game halfway through the third, however, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Trainer Gord Haggitt said the team played well both games, and also commended goalie Scott Bromley for his strong play in the game against Huron Park. The Blyth team is still undefeat- ed, supporting a 4-0-1 record. Bayfield downs Novices The Brussels Novice team was on the receiving end of an 8-5 loss to Bayfield this past week. Brandon Blake led the Brussels effort, with two goals and two assists. Other goals were scored by Scott Armstrong, Philip Wedow and Rob Semple. Other assists went to Wedow, Nick Campbell and Rachel Elliott. Coach Murray Armstrong said the team put out a strong effort, despite the good start Bayfield had. "They kept chipping away, but were unable to catch up in the end." Leading 2-1 towards the end of the first period, the visitors notched two goals in 20 seconds and the scoring barrage started. Blyth added four more in the second frame, and five in the third to earn an easy 13-2 victory. Ansley led the scoring parade with five goals, Matt Anderson and Comeil added hat-tricks and singles went to Cook and Arthur. Adding assists were Van Amersfoort, four; Corneil, three; Arthur, two; Matt Anderson, two; Tyler Stewart, two; Adam Anderson, two; Worsell, two; Ansley, one; and Cook, one. Blyth travelled to Huron Park Monday, Nov. 20 to play a strong Stephen Twp. squad, then hosts Goderich II Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in Blyth. Tim Fritz scored one and set up three in leading the Brussels Crusaders to a 4-1 win over the Drayton Comets Saturday night. Ted Sills, Jeff Earl and Corey McKee also scored for Brussels while Mike Smith made 24 saves for the win. The game, played in one hour and 50 minutes, saw the Crusaders seal the win with two goals in 38 seconds, early in the third period. Friday night, Brent Vandenakker scored at 1:37 of overtime for a 4-3 win over the visiting Wiarton Redmen. Greg Mulvey, Ron Strome and Tim Fritz also scored for Brussels, In a low scoring contest between the Blyth Novice Reps and Milver- ton, the hometown team couldn't hold off a strong attack and had to settle for a tie. The game, played on Nov. 16 in Blyth, saw the hometown squad who allowed Wiarton two unanswered third period goals, including a shorthanded effort with three minutes remaining, to force overtime. The weekend victories improve the Crusaders to a 5 win, 2 loss record and fourth place in the Senior "A" division. Brussels travels to Wiarton Friday night, then returns home for a 2 p.m. Sunday start against the first place Palmerston 81s. take a one goal lead when Luke Anderson, assisted by Brett Bean, pushed one past Milverton's goalie with one minute left in the first.
