THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1995. 0 bituaries LEONARD SHOBBROOK Leonard Shobbrook of Morris Street, Blyth, passed away sudden- ly at Wingham and District Hospi- tal on Nov. 6, 1995. Born 81 years ago in Hullett Twp. to the late Frederick and Eliza Jane Shobbrook, Mr. Shobbrook devoted his life to his family, his farm and his many friends. He was the third generation of his family to farm on Conc. 13 of Hullett Twp. Mr. Shobbrook was a member of Londesboro United Church. Left to mourn his passing is his wife, the former Mary M. MacDon- ald. He was the loving father of Dou- glas Shobbrook of Sarnia and Donna Lynne and Ted Lamont of St. Clements, and the loved grand- father of three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. As a reminder of the bountiful harvest the basement was decorated with fruits, vegetables and grain. Marilyn Verbeek opened the mating with a Call to Worship and a prayer of thankfulness. Praise the Lord 0 You His People was sung with Marjorie McDougall as pianist. Bernice Gross read the scripture from Luke 17 followed by a reading "A Reflection of Thankfulness." A lovely duet A Song of Thanksgiving was sung by Laura May Chamney and Nancy Park. There were six tables in play at the euchre game held at the Community Hall, Tuesday evening, Nov. 7. Winners were high man, Terry The Wingham and District Corn- -munity Living Association held its annual Lottery Dinner and Dance on Nov. 4 at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre under lottery licence M163137. There were two early bird draws won by Mary Ann Chadwick, Wingham and Bill and Holly Keil, Wingham. The evening's Master of Cere- monies was Matt O'Neill of CKNX. Winners of the $1,000 draws were: Bill and Karen Ross, Mike McDonagh, Arnold Morrison, Jean McDonald, Blanche Weiss, Matt brother, Clifford Shobbrook of RR1 Blyth and sister, Beth Knox of Londesboro. Rev. John Young officiated at the funeral service held at Tasker Chapel, Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes, Blyth, on Nov. 8. Interment was at Blyth Union Cemetery. Pallbearers were Russell Nesbitt, Carl Nesbitt, Stephen Flynn, Robert Szusz, David Tremeer and Don Tremeer. Chris Shobbrook and Robert Dupee acted as flowerbearers. CAROLINE KEALEY Caroline Kealey of South Hamp- ton, formerly of Brussels, passed away on Nov. 4, 1995, at Saugeen Memorial Hospital. She was 92. She was the beloved wife of the late Grant Kealey (1985), the lov- ing mother of Dytha Doelle of Ari- zona, Carolyn Downes of California and William Kealey of Port Elgin, and the loved grand- mother of six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The Thanksgiving meditation was given by Marilyn, followed by Bernice introducing the guest speaker, Rev. Mary Jane Hobden of Belgrave. She spoke on 10 lepers in Luke 17. We must be thankful for all our blessings and should express this thankfulness to God, she said. Lillian Hallam thanked Rev. Hobden for her speech and her presence. Ruth Armstrong received the offering and the offertory hymn was sung. Following a reading "Everyday Thanksgiving", by Marilyn, autumn leaves were collected from everyone and Marilyn, Ruth and Bernice placed them on the Thanksgiving tree. We Thank Thee Lord was sung and the worship closed in prayer. President Lillian Hallam held a short business meeting. Grace was sung and refreshments served and an enjoyable fellowship time closed the meeting. Grant; low man, Tom Hallam; high lady, Effie McCall; low lady, Marie Bromley; novelty prize, Lloyd Appleby. Euchre is played every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. O'Neill, Eileen McGlynn, Steven and Linda Taylor, Bridge Motors and Lorraine Foxton. Winners of the $100 draws were: Ann Goodall, Lucknow Lions Ladies, Alex Walton, Bill and Marie Millen, David Millen, Bernie McGlynn, Largaret McInnes, Bevin arid Betty Ireland, George Brophy, Peter and Joann Carter. Over 300 attended the dinner and dance. This is the main fundraising event for the Wingham and District Community Living Association. Proceep from the Lottery will be used to ensure quality supports and services for people with develop- mental disabilities. Mrs. Kealey was the dear sister of Marion Spencer and Arthur Kelly, both of Woodstock. Rev. Wild officiated at the ser- vice on Nov. 8, from Betts Funeral Home, Brussels. Interment was at Brussels Ceme- tery. In remembrance, donations to the Shriners Hospital Burn Unit or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family. RUSSEL RUTTAN Russel Ruttan of Fordwich passed away on Friday, Nov. 10, 1995, at his residence. He was 717. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ruttan, the loving father of Marion Feldskov of Fordwich, Don Ruttan of Brussels, Marj Hawkins, Bruce Ruttan and Mary Lou Row- ley, all of Fordwich and the dear grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Ruttan was the dear brother of Arthur, Leo, Anson and Robert Ruttan and Gwen Fraser. Rev. David Jagger officiated at the service from Fordwich United Church; Nov. 13. Interment was at Fordwich Cemetery, Fordwich. Pallbearers were Jack Mann, Ron Henhofer, Jim Taylor, Don Taylor, Bart Scherpenzel and Murray Don- aldson. In remembrance, donations to Fordwich United Church would be appreciated. GERTRUDE MURIEL PRIDE Gertrude Muriel Pride of Kitchener, formerly of Grey Twp., passed away on Nov. 13, 1995 at the Kitchener-Waterloo Hospital in her 81st year. She was the beloved daughter of the late, John and Sarah Pride and the dear sister of. Alvin Pride of Kitchener, Edith Sperian of Michigan, and the late Seth and Frank Pride, Pearl Wheeler, Millie Smalldon, Dorothy Rudd, and Vera Pride. She was the very special aunt of many nieces and nephews. Miss Pride is resting at Betts Funeral Home from 11 a.m. Thursday until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday. Interment is to be at the Brussels Cemetery. Donations to the Waterloo Pentecostal Church, or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
