period, Trevor Koehler, at 13:59 of
the third and Garrett Knight, 19
seconds later, at 13:40.
Belgrave Coach Gord Folkard
said the game was well-played by
both teams. The Belgrave team
plays its next game this Thursday,
in Monkton at 6 p.m.
Peter Ryter scored the lone Brus-
sels goal.
The Bulls management has done
some shuffling in recent weeks and
Henry promises, "there will be
some moving around until we find
the right chemistry."
He adds that he believes the team
is capable of producing better
results. "We are looking for 20
guys who can give 100 per cent to
this team. Until we do we are going
to continue to keep weeding out."
As the team this year has quite a
few rookies, the club is looking for
the return of some of last year's vet-
erans, to blend maturity and experi-
ence into the mix.
"Granted we have a few bugs to
iron out," Henry says. "But, the
obstruction rule has come down
from the NHL, which will mean •a
big turnaround to how hockey will
be played and how this team will
end in the standings."
The Bulls executive has named
Henry as interim general manager
for the club following the recent
resignation of Ken Ball. President
Bob Thomas, said Ball had cited
personal reasons for his resigna-
tion. He added that the executive is
now in the process of contacting
prospective applicants and hopes to
have a new GM in place as soon as
possible.
Patriots blast Brussels Bulls
The Belgrave Atoms squared off
against Brussels on Saturday, with
the teams playing to a 3-3 tie.
Belgrave goals were scored by Ken
McCracken, at 4:29 of the first
As a parent who knows their
child is not living up to his poten-
tial, Bulls Coach Mike Henry is
greatly disappointed with his team's
play, which resulted in a 13-1 loss
to the Mount Forest Patriots on Fri-
day evening.
"Quite simply every single player
had a bad game. Not one of them
played well. Both goalies shared
the loss. To be blunt they are not
playing Junior club hockey." .
Brussels Tykes
show promise
for future
Although the score didn't show it,
Brussels played a great game,
against Hensall, recently, even
scoring the first goal.
After Adam Corbett scored, the
Hensall team, led by Gary
McChachey, scored 10 straight
goals. Brussels had many chances
to score, but just couldn't put it in
the net.
Christopher Jutzi was excellent
in net, for Brussels, making terrific
saves on the speedy Hensall team.
All the other members of the
Brussels team played their
positions perfectly. This team is
showing great promise for the
future.
Novices
lose 7-1
The Brussels Novice team
suffered a disappointing 7-1 loss to
Elma Logan this past week.
Brandon Blake scored Brussels'
lone goal, assisted by Johnathan
Engel, in the second period.
The Brussels PeeWee
Houseleague team was on the
receiving end of an 8-2 loss, at the
hands of Stephen Twp., this past
Saturday.
Brussels scored two quick goals
in the second period. At 13:52,
Brian Oldfield put the puck in the
net, then at 12:18, Chris Coulter,
assisted by Jason Armstrong, added
to that score.
The defense fell apart, though,
during the third period, when
Stephen was able to score four
more goals, and come away with a
solid victory.
On Thursday, the team locked up
with a strong houselcague from
Blyth. Blyth came away with an
11-2 victory.
Neither team got on the
scoreboard until the second period
when Brussels scored both their
goals against six from Blyth.
At 14:19, Brussels' Armstrong
scored, with assists going to Carla
Hunt and Stephen Todd. At 3:43,
Oldfield scored, assisted by
Armstrong and Coulter.
Scoring for Blyth were Matt
The Blyth Novice Reps earned a
tie and suffered a loss in last week's
contests.
Clinton came to town on Nov. 9
and quickly jumped into the lead
when- Brett Blake slid one over the
line at 14: 47 of the first.
Down 2-0, Blyth battled back
midway through the second when
Brett Bean popped one past the net-
minder.
Ryan McClinchey scored the
only goal of the third, bringing
Blyth even with Clinton, for the tie.
The squad travelled to Monkton
on Saturday to confront the Elma-
Logan players.
Anderson and Jeremy Van
Amersfoort each with two, and
Shawn Bromley and Derek Cook
with singles. Assists were earned
by Joey Sykes (two), Van
Amersfoort, Anderson (three),
Bromley, Cook and Adam
Anderson.
Putting the game even further out
of reach in the third, Blyth held
back the Brussels offense, while
notching five more. Anderson and
Van Amersfoort completed their
hattricks, while Sykes and Bromley
added one more each. Graham
Worsell was the other goal scorer.
Assists went to Van Amersfoort
(two), Bromley, Sykes, Cook,
(two), Matt Anderson (two), Adam
Anderson, Joel Arthur.
Blyth Coach Ray Hanna was
obviously pleased with his team's
effort saying his players worked
well together as evidenced by the
many assists. "They played an
excellent game."
Brussels next game is on Nov.
25, in Hensall, while Blyth plays
Seaforth on Nov. 16.
Blyth goalie Justin Peters had a
busy game, fighting off 41 shots,
but allowing seven.
The Blyth team, managing only
six shots, earned one goal when a
shot by McClinchey found the net.
Correction
In the Nov. 8 issue of The
Citizen, the Belgrave Atoms
Houseleague hockey team was
incorrectly identified as a Blyth
team.
We apologize for the error.
