Porch catches fire
Brussels firefighters were called
out last Thursday evening after a
back porch caught fire.
Fire Chief Murray McArter says
Sue Mastnak of Alexander St., had
set a steel pail of ashes out on the
back step. Nearby was a wood pile;
the steps and ceiling of the porch
were also wood.
The blaze was caught early and
firefighters were able to put it out
before it spread beyond the steps,
McArter says, keeping damage to a
minimum.
