"The big aim is to please the cus-
tomer, to be happy and make peo-
ple welcome."
That is the philosophy of Norma
Harms, the proprietor of Salon 54,
the new hairstylist on Blyth's main
street.
With 16 years of experience,
Norma, who moved to the area a
year ago, "saw a chance and took
it" when the store front became
available.
She has worked at several loca-
tions in Stratford as well as in
British Columbia, but was unable
to find full-time employment in
Huron County.
About 38 Blyth Swinging
Seniors sat down to a delicious pot
luck dinner on Oct. 25 in the Blyth
Memorial Hall at 12 noon.
After dinner President Isabelle
Craig called the meeting to order.
They opened by singing 0 Canada
with Phyllis Boak at the piano.
Following this Vera Badley and
Harvey McDowell led a lively
sing-sing. Happy Birthday was
sung to Betty Bowes and Mary
Walden for their October birthdays.
Members were sorry to hear
Brussels seniors Club has
disbanded.
Isabelle reminded all about going
to Huronlea on Nov. 14 for the
residents' birthday party and
Harvey McDowell will entertain
with their group called "Gladys and
her Merry Men". Refreshments will
be served by the Blyth Seniors.
The Christmas dinner will be
served to the seniors at 12 noon on
Nov. 22 by the Blyth Legion
Auxiliary ladies. Anyone wishing a
ticket should call Vera Hesselwood
or Jean Nethery by Nov. 8. The
cast is $10 to cover the dinner and
rent for the hall. Rev. Ian Diamond
of the Blyth United Church will be
the special speaker after the dinner.
The meeting was then adjourned.
Isabelle turned the meeting over to
the Program Committee. Euchre
"When I saw the store, I knew it
was right," she says.
Only open for two weeks, Norma
does not yet have her full comple-
ment of supplies, but expects to be
fully stock within the week. She
offers the full service of hair care
and plans to eventually get into
eyebrow waxing.
Open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on
Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 2
p.m. on Saturday, Norma says she
welcomes walk-in clients and will
accommodate requests for appoint-
ments outside regular business
hours.
Norma carries a full line of Bio-
lage and Tressa products and does
earpiercing.
