In the 1991 census, Huron County had total farm cash receipts (GFR) of $436,912,952, from 3,260 agricultural enterprises. Of the East Coast provinces, Nova Scotia followed a distar:t second with $309,889,000 in cash receipts and 3,980 producers. On a provincial level, Huron County producers achieved the highest GFR followed by Middlesex, Haldimand- Norfolk, Perth, Oxford and Wellington. Even with a decreasing number of operations over the last 15 years, from 3,790 to 3,260 in 1991, Huron's output has continued to climb. It may be a result of Huron's bounty that this county has been involved in the Canada Foodgrains Bank for several years. Each growing season, farmers, suppliers and landowners donated time, money, equipment, supplies and land to growing extra portions of corn, beans, wheat to donate to the charity. Both rural and urban dweller should take time to appreciate the riches of Huron County. All data obtained from - OMAFRA. Graphs depict 1993 stats.
