Conservation awards
The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority presented its Conservation Award Certificates
last Wednesday evening. Certificate recipients were Eva Schmitz and Rene Schmitz, Don
Mason of Blyth Public School, Kim Yuzwa and Marilyn Elgie of the Grey Central School
Environmental Steering Committte, Mike Malhiot of the Ministry of Natural Resources, East
Wawanosh Reeve Don Schultz, Hullett Twp. Reeve Tom Cunningham for the McVittie
Municipal Drain project.

Seniors attend rally
The Seniors Dance will be held at Seniors groups from Auburn,
Londesboro Hall on Friday, Oct. 27 Dungannon, Wingham, Lucknow,
at 8:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Londesboro, Ripley and Seaforth.
Several members of Londesboro Some people won door prizes.

Living Association
The Wingham and District Community Living Association
(WDCLA) held the second Early Bird Draw October 20,
1995, for the Annual Lottery Dinner and Dance. Winners
of the $500 prize were Bill and Holly Keil.
The draw was made by WDCLA Board member Silva Hall
at the Administrative Office located at the Jack Reavie
Centre, 153 John Street, Wingham. This was the last
early Bird Draw, however, the remaining twenty prizes
(ten draws for $100 and ten draws for $1000) will take
place at the dinner and dance on Saturday, November 4.
The event will be held at the Brussels, Morris-Grey
Community Centre In Brussels. A limited number of
tickets are still available through the WDCLA office, 153
John St., Wingham, 357-3562.
Based on the choices and desires of the people we
support, WDCLA staff provide the necessary resources,
training and supports to enable people to become
Involved In their community. In this, the seventeenth year
of the Lottery Dinner and Dance, the money raised from
the event is even more Important In helping us to achieve
our goal.
We would like to thank those of you who have supported
our agency through the purchase of a Dinner and Dance
ticket, or in any other way. We would also like to invite
others to talk to us about the services we provide and to
become involved in some way. Please call 357-3562 for

I. Salverda hosts UCW
On Tuesday, Oct. 10 eight
members of the Burns UCW met at
the home of Ida Salverda. Gay
Salverda opened the meeting with a
reading, "Grandmother's Wish''. A
reading and prayer were given by
Ida Salverda.
Hymn 579 was sung. "Learn a
Bible alphabet" was read by Gladys
Leiper followed by Hymn 578.
Renee Snell gave some readings.
"Juvenile or Parental Delinquency"
and "It's Autumn" were read by
Ramona Jamieson. Hymn 577 was
followed by a reading from Gay
The October meeting of the
Cheerio Club was held on Wednes-
day, Oct. 18. They had lunch at the
Hillcrest Restaurant, then
proceeded to the home of Laura
Lyon. Laura welcomed everyone.
Roll call was taken up with 10
members present. Laura read some
thoughts on October. Ora Bruce
read a piece on "Growing Old and
Tell me".
Salverda, ''You Don't Need a Bank
Full of Cash". This closed the
devotional part. Gay thanked all
who took part.
The business was conducted by
Renee Snell. Roll call was answer-
ed with a Bible verse and minutes
of the last meeting were read.
The treasurer's report was given
by Ramona Jamieson. Gladys
Leiper gave a report on Ida and
thanked all for the cards sent to Ida.
Renee thanked Ida Salverda for
having the meeting. Renee closed
with the Mizpah Benediction.
Edythe Beacom thanked the
Cheerio Club for her birthday card.
They will send Dora Shobbrook a
card for her 90th birthday. The
treasurer's report was given.
Collection and draw money were
taken up. The draw, donated by
Edythe Beacom was won by
Margaret Good.
Cards were played. The
November meeting is Group III.
