By Ashley Howson, Elisha
Courtney, Michelle McNichol
and Kristy Blair
On Oct. 18 a group of four girls
from Blyth Public School were on
their way to The Ontario Educa-
tional Leadership Centre at Camp
Couchiching which is near Orillia.
Kristy Blair, Elisha Courtney,
Ashley Howson and Michelle
McNichol travelled with Mrs.
Cronin, the Peace Maker Advisor,
who drove us there and back and
took good care of us.
When we first arrived we were
given t-shirts and were sent to Mrs.
Cronin's car to get our baggage and
head to our cabins. We were all a
little nervous and a little scared but
when we met the friendly senior
Peer Helpers we were fine.
We were all told to put our
t-shirts on and meet in a big
building called "Birch". We all met
some new friends and found a
secret friend.
On Thursday we put on a 30-
minute workshop on the Peace-
makers program at Blyth PS. After
our presentation we were sent to
separate workshops to learn what
other schools were doing to help
solve problems occurring at their
schools.
When that was over we were all
told to go into our cabin groups and
were also grouped up with a boys
cabin to do a workshop on being
Peer Helpers.
On the last day we found out who
had our names for the secret friends
and we were given a chance to tell
our secret friend who we were.
In conclusion, we learned how to
get along with others, how to be a
leader and a Peer Helper.
We had a lot of fun and all hope
that the future Peace Makers from
Grade ls busy

week. This week they talked about
the colours purple and white. They
had some really interesting show
and tell come in for white.
The Grade is have started their
Snuggle Up and Read Club. They
are keen readers. In math they've
been studying the number five.
Bus safety is so important. Grade
Is watched a video about this and
then they made their own skits and
practised what they learned.
Miss Banter showed them how to
make Halloween mobiles. Parents
watch for the second class
newspaper this week.
THE GRADE 8 LUNCHEON
On Oct. 20 the Grade 8 class held
a Lasagna Luncheon for 48 seniors
from the London area. It took place
in the school gym. The class raised
$325 which goes towards their
graduation and year-end trip.
our school will enjoy it and will
have just as much fun as we all did.
We would like to thank the Board
of Education and the Optimist Club
for their financial support.
