Fire at Country Inn The owners of the Brussels Country Inn got a bit of a scare on Sunday night, when the compressor that cools the walk-in freezer mal- functioned and started a fire. Fire Chief Murray McArter said the call came in at 11:30 p.m., and while the blaze was put out by an extinguisher there was- a good deal PC smoke throughout the upstairs hall arid the main lobby of the building. The estimate of damage is unknown. Date changes Please note that due to unfore- seen circumstances the date for the open house at the Brussels office of The Citizen has been re-scheduled to Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 1 until 3:30 p.m. COSTUME PARTY OCTOBER 28/95 Milestone Rae and Margeurite Crawford were honoured this past week on the momentous occaison of their 68th wedding anniversary. Required BRUSSELS COUNTRY INN 887-9035 Crawfords celebrate milestone Marguerite and Rae Crawford celebrated 68 years of marriage at an open house on Thursday. The former Ella Marguerite Little of Morris Twp. and her groom were married at St. John's Anglican Church, Brussels, Oct. 19, 1927. The bride was the daughter of John and Ellen Little, while Rae, who was born in Nelson, B.C., was the Brussels People The Brussels United Church celebrated its 140th anniversary on Sunday. The guest minister was Very Rev. Dr. Bruce McLeod of St. Marys, former moderator of the United Church of Canada. He chose as his message, "Listen for the Wind", with many explanations. He entertained the children by playing songs on the piano and everyone joining in singing. The choir sang, Great and Morning Star Rebekah Lodge held a hot casserole supper on Monday, Oct. 16 with a good attendance followed by progressive euchre. A guest quartet of men from Harriston; and a quartet with George and Emily Cousins, and Audrey and Rod Helwig of Neustadt entertained with great singing. The choir sang six of their favourite anthems accompanied by Alice at the piano; and Warren Wray sang a solo. Preceding the evening service, Mary Bryans played the new organ accompanied at the piano by Alice with many lovely selections and Somers; lone hands, Jean Thedorf; nearest birthday, Gordon Thedorf; lucky draws, Bob Richmond, Thelma Cardiff, Viola Adams, Roberta Simpson; lucky chair, Garner Nicholson. Next card party will be Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. The Crawfords belong to the Oddfellows and Rebekahs Lodges in Brussels. Special guests at the open house, which was held in the Lodge rooms, were Sister Viola Higgo, PP Rebekah Assembly, Sister Erma Cartwright, DDP, Huron District 23 and Sister Jean Hodgert, PDDP, Exeter. also for the offertory. Following the service everyone was invited to join in fellowship for lunch and more singing by the Harriston quartet. A great anniversary day was had by all.
