Big and small
Hockey enthusiasts of various sizes were on the ice at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey arena every day last week
participating in the annual Brussels Bulls hockey school.
Members of the coaching staff and team were present to
help the youngsters develop skills and get the edge on
the upcoming hockey season.

A member of the Brussels Bulls defense scrambles to help his goalie, Ryan Fisk clear the
puck from their end before the Mt. Forest Patriot gets the rebound. The local Junior C team
hosted the championship Patriots in the home opener on Sunday afternoon and were
defeated 6-1.
Brag about your team
Hockey season is gearing up and Citizen would love to hear how
your team is doing.
With so many leagues in our area it is almost next to impossible to
cover each and every team so we ask for the help of the coaches or parents
in reporting on how the local athletes arc doing.
Forms are available at both Citizen offices. Once filled out they cart be
returned to either office by deadline. No special writing skills are needed;
just a list of goals scored and by whom.
As well having a copy of yours team's schedule gives us an opportunity
to try and arrange it so that we can try and photograph at least a few of the
games.
if we don't know when your learn is playing at home we can't be there.

THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11, 1995. PAGE 9.
Bulls outscored 13-4
in 2 weekend games
Poor discipline and some bad
breaks combined to give the Brus-
sels Bulls a losing record this
weekend.
On Friday night the team trav-
elled to Kincardine where the
power play told the tale as they
came home 7-3 losers. With four of
the goals being scored with the
Bulls playing short, Coach Jim
Bridges put the loss down to poor
discipline and bad penalties.
Brussels Jamie Taylor had a busy
night between the pipes as the
home team outshot the visitors 40-
25.
Bulls rookie Steve Henderson
was responsible for two of the
Brussels goals while Sheldon Mus-
tard scored one.

On Sept. 28, Mr. Talbot's class
walked to a nearby bush. They
worked co-operatively in small
groups. Each group worked well in
setting up camp, getting their
campfires started and cooking their
food. While at the bush, the
students did a tree identification
study, drew maps of the area and
also did some artistic expressions.
As a followup, each student was
responsible for completing an
integrated studies report on our day
including English, Science,
Geography and art activities. It was
a very enjoyable and educational
day. We would like to thank Mr.
Adams for letting us use his land.
JUNIOR SOCCER
Congratulations to the Hullett
Junior Girls' Soccer team, who
went undefeated at the Regional
Soccer tournament at Huron
Centennial, to win the
championship. They defeated both
Seaforth and Huron Centennial by
2-0 scores and tied Blyth and
Clinton.
They placed first overall.
against last year's number one team
the Mt. Forest Patriots appeared to
be similar to the first with Brussels
giving up four more points on
power plays. Though they lost 6-1,
Bridges noted that the team play in
this game was better than in Fri-
day's.
"Also we missed a couple of
breaks in the first period which
would have put us up," he says.
"There was a bad retip that just
missed the net and some shots off
the posts that would have given us
the advantage going into the sec-
ond."
Ryan Wright was the only Bull
who managed to sneak one into
between the Patriots' pipes.
Tending net at the Brussels end
was Ryan Fisk.
The Junior boys had 17 boys on
their team and placed second
overall. They tied against Seaforth,
won against Clinton and Blyth and
lost against Huron Centennial.
The coaches are Mr. Livermore
for the boys, and Mr. Sanders for
the girls.
