Kitchen crew
It takes a huge number of volunteers helping with a variety of tasks to pull off the mammoth
annual turkey supper in Belgrave. This group was busy carving the dozens of turkeys
needed to feed the 1,000 plus who turnout every year for this fundraising event.

The Evening Unit of the UCW
met at the home of Barbara
Anderson on Oct. 30. Fifteen
members answered the roll call
with "a job we do to get ready for
fall".
The meeting was opened with a
"Thanksgiving Story - Through My
Window".
Muriel Coultes welcomed
everyone and thanked Barbara for
hosting the meeting.
During the worship service a
Thanksgiving poem was read by
Norma Moore followed by
meditation "Holidays Become Holy
The Brownies, Sparks and
Guides have resumed for the fall.
They recently enjoyed a sports
night exercising with skipping
ropes.
The Brownie program is going to
a two-year program rather than the
three-year program. Kindergarten
and Grade 1 are Sparks while
Grades 2 and 3 are Brownies.
There are seven Brownies and
seven Sparks. The Spark leaders
are Sandra Dorsch and Leanne
Swanson while the Brownie leaders
Days". The scripture was from
Psalm 8 read by Thelma Pletch.
Hymns Sing to the Lord of
Harvest and Now Thank We All
Our God were sung. The worship
service was closed with prayer.
During the business it was moved
that we cater to several dinners in
November and December.
The program was presented by
Wilma Higgins about "What makes
a Good Community." The meeting
closed with the benediction.
Grace was said and a social time
followed with lunch served by
Annie Cook and Mildred Yuill.

On Saturday, Oct. 7 they are
doing a fundraiser selling pumpkin
pies at the SAAN store in
Wingham.
Last week the Brownies, Sparks
and Guides got together at the
Belgrave Community Centre and
enjoyed line dancing with a snack
to follow.
The Sparks, Brownies and
Guides are hosting a craft and bake
sale at the arena on Saturday, Nov.
18.
The WMS meeting was held in speaker Rev. Cathrine Campbell,
the church on Monday, Oct. 2. who gave a very interesting talk on
Mrs. Alice Nicholson opened the meaning of Thanksgiving. She
with a Call to Worship and gave an example of the widow who
extended a welcome to guests from gave all she had.

Alice read "The Lord of the Euchre resumes on Wednesday,
Harvest". Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. in the Women's

We're looking for 12 of the best!
Do you know a young person, aged 6 to 18
years, who is involved in worthwhile community
service or a special person who is contributing,
while living with a physical or
psychological limitation? Do you know
a youth who has performed an act of
heroism?
The Ontario Community Newspapers
Association, with Bell Canada as the patron, is
looking to recognize these "good kids"; the
young people of our province who show a
commitment to making life better for others.
To nominate an individual or a group of young
people for the Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year
Award, please contact this newspaper or the
OCNA at 905-844-0184. Nominations
for this year's awards will be accepted
until October 31, 1995.
Every nominee will receive a certificate
and up to 12 individuals and one group
will be the recipients of a plaque presented by
the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, an Ontario
Junior Citizen of the Year lapel pin, $200 and a
family portrait with the Lieutenant Governor.
