BBA news
Merchants discuss fees
There may be a slight increase in
membership fee for the Blyth Busi-
ness Association this year.
At the Sept. 21 meeting of the
BBA a recommendation was
brought forward that the member-
ship for retail members be set at
$60 while service members will
pay $30.
This recommendation will be
taken to the Oct. 16 meeting for
approval by the membership.
This meeting will be a dinner
meeting at the Blyth Legion. The
social hour will be at 6:30 p.m.
with dinner to follow at 7 p.m.

Irwin and Keith Roulston.

It was noted that the B.J. Cafe
has become a member of the Asso-
ciation.

Blyth council at its Oct. 2 meet-
ing accepted an offer to purchase
Lot 166, Plan 168 from Steve and
Frances Bearss, in the amount of
$1,000, plus all applicable expens-
es.

Councillor Robbie Lawrie was
appointed chair for a portion of the
meeting as Reeve Mason Bailey
declared a conflict of interest.
The issue for discussion was
McConnell St. development.
Clerk-Treasurer John Stewart
told council that the developer
could commence work on the prop-
erty as soon as both parties had
signed the development agreement
and the security deposit was in
place.
Council adopted the agreement
as presented.
A bylaw authorizing the signing
of the agreement by the chair and
clerk on behalf of the village was
passed

The light standard in the munici-
pal parking lot has been re repaired.
Council authorized the purchase of
anew fixture for the streetlight.

PUBLIC MEETING
Council shall hold an open
public meeting to discuss the
Blyth Brook Community
Greenway Project. The project
includes the development of a
walking trail, planting of trees,
shrubs and wildflowers,
improvements to fish habitats,
and recreational facilities. The
proposed trail would run along
the old CPR rail line from the
arch to the westerly limits of
the Village. The meeting will be
held on Wednesday, October
11th at 8 p.m. at the Memorial
Community Hall. All interested
ratepayers and organizations
are encouraged to attend.
Additional information may be
obtained from the Municipal
Office.

Eleven retail members participat-
ed in the September coupon promo-
tion. The October and November
coupons were ready for distribution
the last week of September.
The deadline for the November
and December coupons will be Oct.
31. Copy should be submitted prior
to this date.

response and retainer for the people
mover during the Threshers
Reunion was very poor. This will
be further discussed at the fall
meeting.

lor and Sheila Rintoul will oversee
the work on the new Blyth

A meeting was held on Oct. 3 at
council that Ann St. will have to be
widened before paving to meet
MTO standards for subsidy.

accounts in the amount of
$155,126.92 was approved for pay-
ment.

A discussion regarding planters
on the bridge and over the Blyth
railway followed. It was noted that
the planters on Queen St. had
received a lot of compliments from
visitors and residents.
