For the second time in a month,
Brussels village council has taken
small measures to try to solve a
drainage issue because there is no
money to take the proper steps.
At Monday night's village coun-
cil meeting Denis Merrall, Huron
County Engineer, suggested a num-
ber of small steps that could be
taken to solve the problem of water
in the basements of main street
businesses but enlarging the main
street storm sewer would likely be
a million dollar project.
Merrall said the problem had
been brought to his attention by
Max Oldfield of Oldfield Pro Hard-
ware and Radio Shack who has
water in his basement during heavy
floods. Councillor Greg Wilson
confirmed that other main street

With all of the girls so tired and
..e pitcher's arms wearing out,
Tiffany Reinhardt led the ream to a
victory over Goderich of 28-14,
with a total of 346 pitches in 14
innings.
All the girls are to be
congratulated on their hard work
during the season as well as the
tournament.
The Hullett Squirt Girls are
grateful to everyone who supported
their chocolate bar sales which
bought the whole team new jackets.
Enough money was left over for a
trip to Wonderland.
Thanks also goes out to all the
parents who helped out in any way
during the season, and to the
Hullett umpires.

businesses also have flooding prob-
lems but they don't use their base-
ments for store area as the
Oldfields do.
There are no plans of the storm
drain under Tumberry St., (which
is a county road) Merrall said, but
people seem to think it is a 12 inch
drain. "There's no way, in my opin-
ion, that a 12 inch drain is suffi-
cient to accept water from cellar
drains. The bottom line is the coun-
ty roads department is in the road
business, not the cellar drain busi-
ness. The drain is sufficient for the
county road. If the village wants to
put in a new drain to take the cellar
drains, the county will give the
same assistance as elsewhere. If it's
