bubble and let the church develop a
vision of what God wants the
church to do."
Unity in the church is attractive.
Are they causing problems in the
church or helping create unity?
God's passion is people. If they
claim to be Christian, then they
must have a passion for people.
The world, he said, is in need of
hope. "What are we going to do
about it?",
Sunday evening a Hymn Sing
was held at the church, as an
evening service.
Wagler also led a session on
Saturday evening for the youth of
the Brussels congregation. The
Grade 7-8s went roller skating on
Friday evening.
Melville WMS met at the home
of Isobel Gibson for their
September meeting.
The hymn All Hail the Power of
Jesus' Name was sung.
The scripture, Psalm 103, was
read by Leona Armstrong, followed
by prayer by Ruby Steiss.
The roll call was answered by
naming a missionary and telling
where they work. Ruby Steiss had
the topic and a reading.
The hymn When I Survey the
Wondrous Cross was sung.

do the job within their salary. Also
he said the village is looking at
equipment that would cut the
amount of time they are spending
on the task.
"Personally I think our two fel-
lows have done a terrific job. They
have expended themselves. How
they manage, we leave to them,"
Reeve Bailey said.
"I'm sure any in-depth thinker
knows we are getting a better deal
this way," Manning said, "but when
you can sit outside your house and
see them you should get an expla-
nation. If you don't ask the ques-
tions you don't get the answers.!'
"We're not keeping secrets," Bai-
ley said. "People are welcome to
come and ask questions anytime."
Noting the absence of Councillor
Robbie Lawrie, Manning also said
that he would like to see the names
of absentee councillors reported in
the newspaper coverage.
Scrimgeour said that the minutes
contain the names of council mem-
bers who were present and absent
at the meetings. The newspaper
reporter has the option of reporting
that information.
