BORN: To Merron Starbuck
Bessie, a bull calf, Luckyme C.
Billie-ted, shortly after the matinee
performance of He Won't Come In
From The Barn, Thursday,
September 14, 1995 on the stage of
the Blyth Festival, Blyth, Ont.
Owners Jim and Lorraine Hallahan
of the Lazy Meadows Dairy Farm,
Blyth, Ont. wish to congratulate
Equity Stage manager Kathryn
Davies for her quick work in
alerting Blyth Veterinarian Phil
Garriock that all was not well
partway through the show. Phil was
standing by at the curtain call, and
Luckyme was born shortly after.
Citing an obscure Equity By-Law
regarding performers who give
birth onstage, Bessie decidpd to
forego her Thursday evening
performance although she did
complete the remainder of her run.
Fellow-cow (noted Brown Swiss
Performer) Roxy, fellow chickens
Orville and Omlette, and fellow
pigs, Spot, Red-Face, and Groaner
appeared mildly bemused by
Bessie's feat. The audience, need-
less to say, was astounded. 38-1
