The students walked, ran, hopped or skipped around the schoolyard for half an hour, raising $96.47 to be donated towards cancer research. HU offers rabies clinic The Public Health Inspection Department of the Huron County Health Unit, in co-operation with the veterinarians in Huron County, are hosting a low cost Anti-Rabies Vaccination Clinic on Sept. 27 and 30. The cost of vaccinating a dog or cat for rabies will be $10 including GST. For more information, call the Huron County Health Unit at 482- 3416 or 1-800-265-5184 and ask for the Public Health Inspection Department or call the local veterinarian. Pet owners in Huron County are reminded that it is the law (Ontario Regulation 567/90) that owners of dogs and cats three months of age or over, are required to be immunized against rabies. One way to avoid having to take the series of rabies vaccination shots is not to handle any animals suspected of having rabies, and make sure that all cats (including those in the barn) and dogs are vaccinated annually against rabies. The anti-rabies shots for cats and dogs in Huron County is mandatory under the Ontario Health Protection and Promotion Act. When a dog or cat is involved in a biting incident, the animal must be quarantined for 10 days to determine if it has been exposed to the rabies virus by turned down. Road superintendent James Johnston was given authorization to advertise the White 244 tractor for sale, once appraisals had been obtained. The gravel pit at Part Lot 13, Conc. 2 will soon have a gate, after council instructed Johnston to have Pete DeJong build one. Hullett council supports Ashfield Twp.'s request for a full evaluation observing if it develops symptoms and dies. If the dog or cat's anti- rabies vaccination is current, the odds are it will be healthy at the end of 10 days. Proof of vaccination must be shown to the public health inspector who is investigating the biting incident and has quarantined the dog or cat. Failure to provide proof may result in a charge being laid and a fine of up to $5,000 for the pet owner. Vaccinating your dog and/or cat against rabies costs much less than requiring rabies vaccine for a loved one. The Brussels clinic will be Sept. 30 in the morning, while the Blyth clinic will be Sept. 27 from 1 - 7 p.m. of alternatives to landfills. The road account and the general account was approved for payment in the amounts of $14,174.40 and $86,169.24, respectively. At a special meeting held on Sept. 8, council hired Larry Mayberry to construct a council table for the municipal building, at a maximum cost of $4,500 plus taxes.
