Walton Public School held its 'Meet the Teacher Night' last week starting with hot dogs and refresh- ments. On view was the proposed plan for the addition of a general purpose room on the school. The teachers enjoyed meeting many Walton area families. Children spent time showing their parents their classrooms. Friday was Terry Fox run at the school and all children and teachers Jan Morris, Dorothy Dilworth and Helen Dobson hosted 11 tables of euchre. Winners were: 50/50, Dorothy Dilworth; high lady, June Jacklin; low lady, Margaret Long; high man, Charlie Harrison; low man, Harold Metcalfe, Bob Bateman; most lone hands, Rita Vollmer, Annie McCourt, Adrian Verstoep, John Subject, Mac Smith, Harold Metcalfe; tally card draw, Velma Sleightholme, Harold The September meeting of Londesboro WI was held at the Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 8 p.m. They opened the meeting with Opening Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and 0 Canada. Lois read Thoughts for the Week. Roll call was answered with a telephone experience. The minutes of the July meeting were read and the financial report was given. Reta Kelland introduced the guest speaker Shelly McPhee- Haist, editor of Focus. She was very interesting. Lois presented her with a cook book and cheque. A skit was presented by Leita Wiley, Renee Snell and Josephine MacGregor on ways to improve the WI meetings. A card was signed for Doris Batkin's 60th wedding anniversary. Auburn WI invitation is for Thursday, Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. for dessert and meeting. London Conference is on Friday, Oct. 20 at Kirkton. Fall Tour is Sunday, Oct. 15 and the County Rally is on Oct. 16 at Gorrie Hall. Frasers greet at Duff's United Church Doug and Marjory Fraser were greeters at Duffs United on Sept. 17. Sarah McDonald started the service by lighting the Christ Candle. After the Call to Worship and the singing of Joyful Joyful, Rev. Randy Banks announced that there will be no service at Duffs next Sunday due to Bluevale, holding its Anniversary Service. That service will start at 11 with guest speaker Rev. Bonnie Cole Aural. Everyone is invited to attend. Oct. 1 is World Wide Com- munion and Oct. 8 is Baptism Sunday. Jo-Ann McDonald came forward to read the board minutes. Patty Banks announced that the Sunday School kids have a prayer wall downstairs and if anyone wished to add either their names or names of other people in need of prayer to let the children or teachers know. Rev. Banks called the children forward and asked if any of them had ever done anything wrong. Several hands went up. He then asked them how they knew it was wrong. He named some things people do that is wrong and then went on to say that it was called 'sin. Sin, he said, was when we go against the laws and guidelines God wants us to obey. These laws when obeyed make for a happy, safe and loving community. The most important thing to remember is that God never stops loving us. Rev. Banks's sermon was called, 'The Loved and the Lost'. Dances set, Sept. 22, 29 Senior Dances at Londesboro Hall are on Friday, Sept. 22 and 29. Everyone is welcome. Anyone interested in playing _ shuffleboard starting in early November should contact Elizabeth Lawson at 523-4487. If there is not any interest shuffleboard could be cancelled. Hoggarts usher Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Sept. 17 were Helen Lyons and Margaret Good. Ushers were John and Larry Hoggart. The sermon topic was Lost Causes. Balloons hung outside the Walton Hall beckoned 18 children inside on Friday after school. The occasion was Nicholas and James Durrell's birthday party. The group enjoyed party games and helped the two brothers eat up the 'gummy bear' birthday cake.
