insensitive gawkers.
I know it is natural to be curious.
The teenagers I can understand.
The people who have nothing
better to do than to sit at home
glued to their scanners and then
follow the trucks when there is an
accident, have serious problems.
Where is their sense of respect and
dignity for other human beings?
I suppose it is some consolation
to know that these small-minded
people who find pleasure gathering
at the scene of someone elses
misfortune, or even tragic death,
receive little or no respect from
others in the community, who upon
hearing the fire sirens, continue to
go about their business, leaving the
fire department to do their job and
only hope that it is not their loved
one that is involved.

THE EDITOR,
For almost two years, the
Wingham and Area Chamber of
Commerce has attempted to
convince cellular phone companies
to improve service in the north
Huron and Perth and south Bruce
area. The Bell Mobility Sales
Department has assured us that
they will be able to convince their
associates to construct three new
cells in this unserviced "black hole"

has not been confirmed.
"We are planning to send a team
of hospital board and staff
members to a conference at the
OHA on Sept. 18," said Koch.
Hospital mergers and
amalgamations were also discussed
at the board meeting.
The CEO said that a number of
success stories have arisen in those
areas where hospitals have dealt
directly with each other rather than
waiting for District Health Council
studies.
"It would seem that all of these
mergers have been accomplished in
the multi-hospital towns and
cities," said Koch. "There are a few
exceptions, like Orangeville, to this
general rule and that merger was
achieved several years ago in order
to achieve a major reconstruction
of the hospital."
He said the story in rural Ontario,
among single hospital towns, is
quite different as the dynamics are
different.
"People expect to get health care
in their own community and don't
expect to have to drive to the next
town to get it," said the CEO.
Koch said that Mike Harris, in
his campaign, picked up on that
sentiment and promised to protect
rural hospitals. He added that it will
be interesting to see how his new
government responds to its rural
areas.
"I have not sensed that they plan
to back-off their promises and may
well take a hands-off approach and
allow hospitals to do what makes
sense for their communities," he
said.
The CEO said for Huron and
Perth Counties that may well mean
that hospitals, through the DHC,
should look at their services and
see how they can provide better
service to their communities, but
that it would not presuppose the
need for mergers or restructuring
services.
LE they can obtain 400 new
subscribers. Three new cell sites
would provide us with excellent
service.
We have had no reply
whatsoever from Bell's competitor.
Friday, Sept. 8 commenced a
two-week sales blitz by Mobility to
achieve this 400 threshold.
Temporary sales depots will be
operating in Wingham, Listowel,
Teeswater, Blyth, Brussels,
Seaforth and Wroxeter during this
two week period. A commitment to
subscribe (when service is
provided) and a $50 deposit is the
requirement from us, the potential
users.
We encourage any of your
readers who have the slightest
desire to use good cellular service
to stop into the sales centre in your
area and sign on. These locations
and times will be advertised in
local papers and on CKNX or call
Jan Godley at 1-800-265-1892 for
details.
We strongly encourage your
readers to sign on NOW to take
advantage of this opportunity to
obtain good cellular service in our
area.
Please sign up!
