With the high quality "field run" beans delivered by Ontario producers in 1994, the plant was able to meet and exceed the demanding quality specifications established by our customers. Demand is high for the proven quality of beans from our new processing system. In August, HDC will complete a new $1,500,000 speciality bean receiving, drying and storage facility. We look forward to being a new partner in the speciality bean industry and to play an integral role of upgrading producer deliveries to meet our customers' high quality standards. Help support these new initiatives by delivering your beans to an HDC receiving elevator. We guarantee fast, friendly service, fair grades and honest weights. PAGE A-6. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1995. Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion 1995 Relics of the past come to life at Reunion From the old to the very old Flea market exhibitors display a wide variety of items for those interested in collectibles and antique articles. All merchandise has to be at least 30 years old. The Huron Pioneer Thresher Reunion seems to bring new life to relics of the past. The antique flea market, a bustling Reunion tradition, provides an excellent illustration of this. Stephen Tiffin, this year's co-ordinator and a five-year veteran of the flea market, stresses the displays' authenticity: "The items must be 100 per cent authentic. To qualify as an antique, the item must be 50 years old or more and a heritage item must have reached its 30th birthday. The collection ranges from antique tractor parts to steam and tractor magazines, replica toys, dishes, household items and small farm equipment such as hand plows, hoes and racks." Tiffin also points out the sense of community in the market. "With 14 vendors last year, the displays attracted a good crowd. Fifty per cent of the vendors are diehards who return every year and the rest are newcomers or ones who have attended the event in the past." He further adds, "Most of the vendors camp at the community centre and there is a friendship which has developed amongst them. They travel from areas such as London, Port Elgin, Burgessville, St. Thomas, Seaforth, Wingham, Teeswater, Listowel and Wiarton. The displays are great and everyone should enjoy the show." Crafty Various woodworking crafts will be on display at the Hobby Show as well as many other hand-crafted items. Many vendors at craft show The Craft Show is an important part of the Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association Reunion, and as with many of the weekend's events, planning begins well in advance. Jean Fox, the co-ordinator of the event, says that planning begins as soon as they know when the Reunion will be. The first task is to send applications and registration information to previous vendors, while also trying to attract new ones. The applications must be received by the end of August, so that floor planning can be completed by the Reunion weekend, Fox requests that photos be provided with applications, in order that the displays can be organized in similar groups. Hydro is available if vendors request it. Vendor names are taped to the floor, in front of the tables, in order to prevent any confusion on set-up day. Displays include such things as hand- painted china, ceramics, wood whittling, knitting, dolls, jewelry, quilting, woodworking and much more. Fox says, "This is a three-day event which brings out a different group of people. The craft selection is also different from others in the area because it is a summer show. It is a good craft show so everyone should enjoy it."
