Mini Mart gets new owner
By Janice Becker
After working in long-haul truck-
ing for many years, Bruce Papple
of Blyth decided it was time for
something different.
He purchased Blyth Mini Mart.
On Sept. 1, Papple realized an
idea he had been considering for
some time, owning a store.
For the time being, "I will let the
store go around me before I go
around it," says Papple, referring to
any changes to be made to the busi-
ness.
"Arlene (Wood) built up a good
clientele here and I will be building
on that and adding my own touches
in time."
All the current staff will be stay-
ing on as Papple is trained by them
on how things operate at the Mini
Mart.

Car hits
tractor
The lack of tail lights on a tractor
may have been a contributing fac-
tor in an Aug. 26 accident just
south of Blyth on Hwy. 4 which
injured four local residents.
According to police Steven
Walsh, 41, of Blyth was north-
bound on Hwy. 4 at 9:50 pm.,
heading into the village, when he
came upon a Massey Ferguson
tractor, driven by 18-year-old
Christopher Saur of Blyth.
Walsh swerved to avoid the trac-
tor which was being driven half on
and half off the highway.
Police say he lost control of his
