PAGE 3. `Country Flowers' fulfills longtime dream By Janice Becker Years of dreaming and planning have finally come true for one Blyth woman who will soon be opening a shop in the village. ber. Country Flowers will occupy the shop on Blyth's main street which for many years was home to Wilson's Health and Gift Centre. After customizing the building to their needs, the flower and gift shop will offer its customers a Vic- torian and country folk art line of gifts, Christmas gift ideas, silk, dried, fresh and parchment flower arrangements, helium balloon cre- ations and a wire service for fresh flower orders as well as maintain- ing the Sears order office. "Our emphasis will be on cus- tomer service and a quality prod- uct," says Luann. "We have kept the Sears service in the same loca- tion, with the same phone number for the convenience of the cus- tomer." - As well as her 10 years of work with the Wingham and District Community Living Association, where she worked in the "Belles and Beaus" store, Luann has worked with silk flowers for a cou- ple of years and has taken courses for fresh flower arranging. A part-time florist will also be hired. The gift line featured at Luann's Country Flowers will include rus- tic, hand-crafted wooden products, quaint bird houses, decorative wreaths and classic centrepieces. "I will be attending gifts shows to bring a unique line," says Luann. "I am interested to see what the com- munity wants and will try to acquire requested items." Luann says she felt very good about starting her business at this time. "The pieces just seemed to fall into place. Jim and Thelma (Wilson) have been very good about letting me work through the transition. My family and friends have been very supportive and we are all quite excited. Even the chil- dren want to be involved." Ken will be a jack-of-all-trades, making deliveries and handing out moral support when he is not work- ing in Goderich, she says. The chil- dren have volunteered to shovel snow. Getting the store ready for the opening will be keeping the family very busy over the next few weeks, but Luann says the Sears outlet will remain open during that period. Luann's Country Flowers will be open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. as well as being available for short-notice, special orders.
