young counterparts and one chaper- •

foundland.
The exchange is organized by
Canadian 4-H Council. Air fare and
ground transportation to and from
the airport are paid for by Open
House Canada, Youth Exchange
Program for the Department of
Canadian Heritage.
The east coast visitors arrived to
the area on July 26. While here
they will be introduced to a differ-
ent Canadian culture and experi-
ence a different way of life.
Staying with White, is chaperone
Betty Quinton, a 4-H club-co-ordi-
nator with Trinity Bonavista South
District 4-H. Though her club has
been involved in an exchange twice
before, this is her first and last as
participants can only go on one
exchange.
Though the itinerary includes
several home days, when the host
youths can take their guests to local
sights, the group will also see some
of the bigger tourist attractions in
Ontario, such as SkyDome, CN
Tower, Niagara Falls and Wonder-
land.
They also attended the 80th
anniversary celebrations for 4-H at
the Agricultural Museum in Milton.
"It's hoped that the tour is educa-
tional as well as entertaining," says
White.

Newfoundland. Some of the high-

Their will also be a stop at Signal
Hill, which overlooks the harbour
of St. John's and was for many
years the centre of the town's
defences. It was here that the first
radio transmission was received,
Dec. 12, 1901, sent in Morse Code
from Cornwall, Eng.
For the hosts, the exchange is
often an enlightening experience as
well. "There are things I'm taking
them to see that I have never seen,"
says Quinton.
White and her young charges will
be returning home to Huron Aug.
